Abstract

This study aims to obtain chemistry-based teaching materials for scientific literacy on buffer solution materials that meet BSNP criteria, and to the extent able to improve the chemistry learning outcomes of high school students. This type of research is the development of ADDIE research model carried out in class XI MIA SMA Parulian 1 Medan. The instruments used were test and non-test instruments that had fulfilled validity. The study was conducted in 2 stages, namely the manufacturing phase of teaching materials based on scientific literacy and the limited trial phase. The results of the study are (1), it has been obtained teaching materials Buffer Solution based on science literacy that meet BSNP standards namely content eligibility = 3.51, presentation eligibility = 3.49, Language eligibility = 3.64, and feasibility of graphic = 3.69. (2), the results of limited trials in learning indicate that the average value of student learning outcomes in experimental class I was 83.10 higher than experimental class II of 75.24. (3), the results of limited trials in learning showed that the average student interest in the experimental class I was 79.33 higher than in the experimental class II which was 69.45.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the yield of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is made through a combination of fermentation and enzymatic techniques using papaya latex. Previous papaya sap is processed into crude papain enzyme and fermentation using yeast tempeh (Rhizopus oligosporus). Concentration of 100 ml coconut milk is added 0.5 grams of tempeh and coarse with variation of the enzyme papain 0.0 grams; 0.2 grams; 0.4 grams; 0.6 grams; 0.8 grams and with a pH of 3.4 and 5 variations of this mixture was incubated for 24 hours at room temperature. Of 100 mL of milk obtained optimum yield Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) of 27.8 mL of the enzyme at a concentration of as much as 0.6 grams of crude papain at pH 5. addition of the enzyme papain is able to increase the yield of coarse Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), but at a certain concentration will be able to lower the yield. The lower the pH, the lower the yield of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is obtained. Analysis of the quality of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) in terms of free fatty acid 0.1720%, 0.18% and a water content of 9.45 mg iodine / g. The Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) obtained had been met requirement set by SNI standard’s. Kata kunci: Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), Getah Pepaya, Ragi Tempe

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an innovative android-based chemistry learning media for Chemical Equilibrium material in Class XII MIA. To achieve this goal, research on the type of development using the 4D method has been carried out. The media obtained were tested for feasibility, referring to the feasibility indicators of learning media in the National Education Standards Agency, BSNP involving expert validators. The research result show that(1) An android-based chemistry learning media (ChemsDroid) has been obtained on chemical equilibrium topic.(2). The ChemsDroid media obtained has met the eligibility criteria based on the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP), namely content feasibility, graphic feasibility, language feasibility and presentation feasibility.(3) The results of the perception test showed that students gave a very good response.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effectivenessproblem based learning model (PBL) using student worksheet on learning outcomes and students’critical thinking skills on the teaching Reaction Rate. The population in this research was grade 11th of SMA Negeri 6 Medan. Classes sample was taken by random sampling, and two classes were selected as a sample. Those two classes will be taught with Problem Based Learning model, the difference is the first class will be used students worksheets and the other class is not. The instrumentto conduct this researchwas  by test and non-test. Based on parametric statistical test, the result of pretest, postest, and students’ critical thinking skills data from those two classes have a normal distribution and homogeny. Hypothesis was tested by using one tailed test with significant level ( ) =0,05. The data from hypothesis testing learning outcomes is tcal  ttable (3,101 1,669), means Hois rejected and Ha is accepted. Hypothesis testing result on students’ learning outcomes using student worksheets is higher than the non-using student worksheet. Critical thinking hypothesis test is tcal  ttable (4,754 1,669), means Hois rejected and Ha is accepted. Hypothesis testing result oncritical thinking using student worksheet is higher than the non-using student worksheet. Contribution of students’ critical thinking to the ups and downs of learning outcomes on the experiment class is 81,5%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning outcomes by applying to learning using question cards and snakes and ladders media through a scientific approach to the topic of acid-base discussion. Ultimately, the evaluation of improving the learning outcomes of students by learning using question cards and ladder snake media through a scientific approach to the topic of acids and bases is reported in this study. The population in this study were all students of class XI MS SMA Negeri 20 Medan, total three classes. The sample was taken by purposive sampling in two classes. The first class was experimental I, taught using a scientific approach using question cards, and the second class was experimental class II, conducted using a scientific approach using snakes and ladders. Each experiment class consists of 32 students. The research instrument was a multiple choices objective test instrument of 25 questions which had been tested for validity, reliability, discriminating power, and level of difficulty for learning outcome data. Test the first hypothesis using a two-party t-test, and SPSS 21 (independent samples t-test) results obtained for experimental class I with a tcount value of 32.320 > ttable 1.70. In contrast, the experimental class II has a tcount value of 31.231 > ttable 1 .70 at a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The second hypothesis test using the proper side t-test and in SPSS 21 (paired samples t-test) obtained a mean of 5.000 and a t-test value of 2.648 with a sig value of 0.010 <0.05.

Abstract

The food crisis is a condition when acute food hazards and net malnutrition increase sharply. One reason is due to a slowdown in food production. In 1627, a new farming method was known, called hydroponics, namely the method of growing with the help of water. After further investigation, it was found that the cultivation method with water will eventually produce plants that are as good as plants grown using soil media. Therefore, this research will explore the benefits of using hydroponic media in leek cultivation. In this study, there were two containers, the first container was not subject to the application of pesticides, while the second container was watered with onion peel vegetable pesticides twice a week. The results of the leek planting experiment in the hydroponic system and media showed that the maximum height achieved by the leek plants tested was as high as 22.8 cm, and only 3 out of 17 total plants died.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to obtain Android-based chemical bond learning media using the smart apps creator program that is feasible and eligible to use. To achieve the goal, development research has been carried out which refers to the 4 D model with the stages define, design, develop and disseminate. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Medan involving teachers and students of class X MIA. The research instruments used are non-test instruments including needs analysis instruments, feasibility test instruments and student response instruments. The research results are: (1). An Android-based chemical bond learning media has been obtained using a smart apps creator program with features main view, main menu, learning material, evaluation, summary and references. (2). The Android-based chemical bond learning media obtained was deemed suitable for use in learning with a feasibility level of 85.0% with very worthy category. (3). The students give good eligibility responded (82.6%) for the Android-based chemical bond learning media obtained with meets the requirements for use as learning media.Keywords: Android based; Chemical bonding; Learning media; Smart apps creator program

Abstract

Perkembangan dunia digital tidak hanya menimbulkan peluang, tetapi juga tantangan dan kekhawatiran. Salah satu bentuk kekhawatiran perkembangan digital yang pesat ini adalah munculnya permasalahan hoaks dan cyberbulling khususnya kepada anak-anak remaja yang notabene merupakan pengguna internet terbesar di dunia. Permasalahan ini merupakan focus utama dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini. Adapun masalah yang terdapat dalam pengabdian yaitu memberikan edukasi kepada Masyarakat khususnya warga Paya Kapar Tebing Tinggi terhadap permasalahan hoaks dan cyberbulling serta memberikan edukasi bentuk penanganan kasus hoaks dan cyberbulling. Lokasi kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Gereja Pentakosta Indonesia (GPI) Sidang Paya Kapar Tebing Tinggi. Adapun metode kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan berupa sosialisasi dalam bentuk penyuluhan. Jumlah warga yang mengikuti sebanyak 20 orang mulai dari anak kecil hingga para remaja dan didampingi oleh orangtua. Adapun penyuluhan yang dilakukan berupa edukasi mengenai hoaks dan cyberbulling, dampak dari hoaks dan cyberbulling di masyarakat, serta bagaimana bentuk penanganan kasus hoaks dan cyberbulling.Berdasarkan kegiatan pengabdian yang telah dilaksanakan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa seluruh rangkaian kegiatan pengabdian berjalan dengan lancar dan para peserta dalam hal ini yakni warga Gereja Pentakosta Indonesia (GPI) Sidang Paya Kapar Tebing Tinggi memperlihatkan antusiasme yang tinggi ditandai dengan munculnya 10 pertanyaan dari peserta terkait topik pengabdian.

Abstract

Perkembangan globalisasi yang diiringi dengan pesatnya kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi akan berpengaruh pada pola pikir dan pola tindak masyarakat di berbagai pelosok kota maupun desa. Banyaknya terjadi penyimpangan dan kesalahan-kesalahan tertentu sebenarnya berakar dari tidak mengamalkannya nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam pancasila itu sendiri. Maka dari itu pentingnya memahami pancasila tidak hanya mengerti namun juga mengamalkan dan melaksanakan nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam pancasila sebagai pendidikan karakter. Lokasi pengabdian dilaksanakan di SMA Swasta Bangun Insan Mandiri Medan. Adapun bentuk kegiatan yang dilakukan berupa sosialisasi dalam bentuk penyuluhan di kelas. Jumlah siswa yang mengikuti sebanyak 40 orang. Adapun penyuluhan yang dilakukan berupa edukasi mengenai sejarah lahirnya Pancasila yang berkaitan erat dengan kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia, pengetahuan mengenai sila-sila di dalam Pancasila dan maksudnya, deskripsi mengenai nilai-nilai yang terkandung di dalam Pancasila dan aplikasinya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah para peserta kegiatan telah mengetahui tentang nilai-nilai pancasila beserta aplikasinya namun secara implementasinya masih belum berjalan maksimal dan para peserta sangat antusias mengikuti pelaksanaan kegiatan dibuktikan dengan banyaknya pertanyaan yang diajukan kepada peneliti.

Abstract

Masalah penyebaran berita bohong, perundungan dan ujaran kebencian akhir-akhir ini menjadi perbincangan hangat dalam kehidupan masyarakat dan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat yang awalnya sederhana berkembang menjadi kondisi modem yang semakin kompleks. Interaksi antar masyarakat dalam konteks digital menjadi peluang munculnya berbagai penipuan, pelecehan, dan ujaran kebencian. Hoax adalah informasi yang sebenarnya tidak benar tetapi tampak benar. Hoaks biasanya mengandung ujaran kebencian yang dapat menghasut, menyudutkan, dan bahkan memprovokasi agama, tokoh ideologi, dan lain-lain. Untuk menyikapi bahaya hoaks yang sangat merugikan ini, dilakukan upaya yang disebut sebagai literasi digital. Literasi digital adalah kemampuan individu untuk mengakses, memahami, membuat dan mengkomunikasikan serta mengevaluasi berita yang beredar Lokasi kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Gereja Pentakosta Indonesia (GPI) Sidang Paya Kapar Tebing Tinggi. Adapun bentuk kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan berupa sosialisasi dalam bentuk penyuluhan. Jumlah warga yang mengikuti sebanyak 25 orang. Adapun penyuluhan yang dilakukan berupa edukasi mengenai hoax, dampak hoax di masyarakat, literasi digital dan manfaat literasi digital bagi masyarakat dalam menangkal hoax. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah Para peserta kegiatan telah memahami pentingnya literasi digital dalam menangkal penyebaran hoax yang beredar di internet maupun di media sosial dan para peserta sangat antusias mengikuti pelaksanaan kegiatan dibuktikan dengan banyaknya pertanyaan yang diajukan kepada peneliti.
