Abstract

Transit Oriented Development (TOD) implementation in urban development is globally adopted by many countries in the world in a rapid manner. However, the city and regional acute problems is still propagating. An in-depth study to examine this problem is required. Thus, this paper review various study related to the integration of land use and transport with TOD. The subject of the paper will be described as follow: Method, criteria and indicators of TODS research, Reviewing the strategic plan and the public transport plan in the worldwide, and Cross-continent comparison of integration planning. In conclusion, practice and integration of TOD through land use and transportation is an alternative solution in acquiring the objective of the master plan and to solve urban issues such as urban congestion, reduce travel time, and car dependency.

Abstract

Spatial planning on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concerns with the integration between land use and transportation aspects. However, in some places, public transport management based on transit nodes such as train services which are not well- integrated, and causing spatial chaos, especially surrounding station areas. It is essential to prepare a public transportation plan by maximizing regional potential capacity with TOD model. The purpose of this paper is to identify and prioritize potential areas for TOD using spatial statistical analysis with combined models of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) for Jakarta Metropolitan Regional (JMR), Indonesia. This paper employed two major indicators: main- and sub-indicators depending on relevant references. The weight of each indicator was determined by chosen experts. The result showed that some of the metro areas of Jakarta were highly suitable for TOD and indicated the characteristics of the development of urban areas. This paper’s outcome was useful in order to determine the potential location of TOD and was applicable to other areas within the same geographical conditions.

Abstract

Baghdadiyah is a neighborhood of Jeddah Downtown, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Inhabitants of this area come from multi-ethnic and mostly low-income residents. The high density of the area affects land use more concisable.  Consequently, the beauty of the city which was used to be historic sites of Jeddah is down-grading. This study proposed to revitalize city plan for a better quality of life. The aim of this study was to re-shape a slum area and to improve the spatial configuration of urban structure based on the recent condition. The method involved several approaches: recognizing a theoretical basic concept of the slum, applying spatial re-configuration, analyzing the existing conditions and re-constructing new syntactical properties. The result of this study shared a new design of slum revitalizing plan for Baghdadiyah configuring dominated patterns of integration and connection. Adequate transport networks would reshape the city building profile.

Abstract

COVID-19 from Wuhan, China, quickly spread to all countries worldwide with the adverse effects that accompany it. Each country's response should be to provide a policy package that is swift and beneficial for people, but not all countries have policies that are as expected. This paper aims to identify any planning policy indicators through a comparative study between the two countries. This paper is hoped can formulate planning policy directions that can be applied in other countries. This study took a case study from two countries, namely Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, because they have similarities and differences, such as in the socio-cultural, physical areas, and religious fields, especially in practicing worship in the holy month of Ramadan. This research method was descriptive qualitative by using a pairwise comparison analysis that compares sustainable development factors such as social, economic, and environmental contained in the planning policies issued by each country. The result was seen similarities and differences in the policies of the two countries, and it has implemented its planning policies well but is still awaited in the next stage, namely the stages of implementation and evaluation.

Abstract

Transit Oriented Development (TOD) is believed to be able to overcome the issues of urban transport. However, in practice, the current TOD in Jakarta Metropolitan Region (JMR) is still a deficiency in accommodating the needs of transportation movement and not in facilitating services in terms of TOD function. The objective of this paper was to re-assess the service quality of actual TOD in 54 commuter railway stations. The paper performed criteria-indicators and measured a composite TOD index by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)-multicriteria model, statistics test, and Geographical Information System (GIS) application. TOD index was found that urban areas have a high TOD index. On the other hand, the suburban areas have a low TOD-index. The statistical test showed that there was a strong correlation between different criteria. This paper concluded that most of the stations which were located in the suburban area had a low index thus need improvement. Consequently, the station areas needed to have a policy relevance.

Abstract

3D modelling of buildings in Google Earth in Batam city, Indonesia is very important for knowledge about facility, infrastructure, and others.Three-dimensional (3D) visualisations are an interesting method for representing model outcomes. This research In Tunjuk island with coordinate, at Latitude: 0.984123°, and Longitude: 104.225606°, with technical terms, there are two alternative routes for implementation, and they both share the same starting stage. In (Figure 5) visible visual measurements of the master plan that has been made has a length 141.99 metre and width 54.25 metre with location at Latitude 0.984593° and Longitude 104.228073°. In (Figure 5) visible visual measurements of the master plan that has been made has a length 92.96 metre and width 135.46 metre with location at Latitude 0.984593° and Longitude 104.228073°. This paper presented a rapid visualisation tool for supporting the joint decision making in evaluation of design/renewal proposals in Batam City, Tunjuk Island, Indonesia. 3D building using Google Earth (GE) and combaining Geographic Information System (GIS) system be done officially on a sampling or auditing basis by a professional body or by researchers, or it could be done by volunteers and user groups.

Abstract

Improving community accessibility based on transport connectivity helps to address equity issues. Geographical information systems (GIS) provide useful techniques for capturing, maintaining and analyzing spatial data to defining community issues. The objective of this study is to model accessibility of community facilities using GIS based on private car, bus and train in the city area of Depok, Indonesia. The study modeling the accessibility of community facilities using Geographical information systems (GIS). A geodatabase of community facilities that includes the location of the mall, schools, hospital, mosque, and lake and also supporting data such as street and road network, the number of population, density and land use. The geodatabase covers defining community facilities and modeling accessibility by car, by bus, and by train and analyzing the social pattern. The results obtained from the spatial pattern of accessibility based on the different modes of transportation using the method of network analysis and buffering operations underlines the existence of different patterns. Car transport mode is a commonly accessible mode of community-related to land use interpretation and social issues. The conclusion is that there are differences in the spatial models at the city level in terms of the use of transportation accessibility

Abstract

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has advantages in trade and logistics services that other countries do not have. By 2020 there was a significant increase in logistics market revenue with reach almost SAR 94 billion (USD $ 25 billion), which, in this case, opens up opportunities for FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) that must be exploited. Components and logistics services are a series of activities planning, organizing, and controlling all activities in the flow of materials, from raw materials to final consumption and the return flow of manufactured products, with the aim of satisfying the needs and desires of customers and other interested parties. city. Therefore, the sustainability of city logistics requires synergy between policy makers (government) and also the community (public) with the private sector (private) with steps such as simplification of regulations, provision of urban infrastructure, low carbon emissions in transportation means of delivery of logistics services, network governance. modern traffic so that this public-private partnership is the key to the effectiveness and efficiency of a sustainable urban logistics chain.
