Abstract

The growth of Chili pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacquin.) is affected by biotic and abiotic stresses. Abiotic stress such as waterlogging increases the expression of ACS (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase) enzyme. This enzyme plays a great role in the process of ethylene biosynthesis and encoded by multiple genes. Waterlogging causes hypoxia condition. One of ACS enzymes that responds to hypoxia condition is ACS2. The different respond to hypoxia stress among plant was assumed to be caused by a different structure of the ACS2 enzyme. This study aimed to identify and confirm the active site of Capsicum chinense Jacquin ACS2  using modeling and in silico docking. The result of the three-dimensional (3D) structure modeling showed 91% similarity of Capsicum chinense Jacquin ACS2 with the structure of the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). The Capsicum chinense ACS2 confirmed five active sites that bind to the substrates asparagin396B, valine397B, thyrosine152B, threonine128B, and thyrosine92A.

Abstract

Amorphophallus muelleri Blume (porang) is a high-economic value plant widely found in Indonesia, particularly in East Java. The morphological variations of this plant play a significant role in selecting superior seeds and adapting to environmental conditions. Additionally, porang has potential in the energy sector, particularly in biomass energy conversion from its tubers, which are rich in glucomannan. This study aims to analyze the morphological differences of A. muelleri from various regions in East Java and its potential for biomass energy utilization. The observed parameters include the pattern and color of petioles, the shape and color of tubers, and glucomannan content as the main indicator of energy potential. The results indicated three main groups based on petiole patterns: (1) large prismatic, (2) small prismatic, and (3) striped prismatic. The tuber morphology also showed significant differences in shape, color, and water content, which affect energy conversion efficiency. Higher glucomannan content in certain variants suggests their potential as raw materials for bioethanol or renewable energy biomaterials. This emphasizes that morphological variation is not only crucial for selecting superior seeds but also for optimizing energy utilization from porang tubers.

Abstract

Constitution number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (hereinafter abbreviated as "ITE") in this dynamic era. This is considered important because of this sophisticated era, especially among young people (especially students) who are inseparable from technology, especially social media, which can have positive and negative impacts, so it is necessary to inform them that there are legal provisions (both civil and criminal) that can threaten them if they are not careful in using social media to convey expressions or opinions. The problems discussed are regarding students' and teachers' understanding of ITE regulations and the application of sanctions if they violate or commit ITE crimes. So that with this socialization, it is hoped that it can be a learning experience for Malang city residents to be wiser in using social media. This activity was carried out offline and was carried out for two days. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the awareness of Malang city residents regarding their knowledge of ITE regulations is still low, so this activity is considered as a new provision so that they can be more careful in accessing social media.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance understanding of water pollution through the use of histology preparations as educational tools for the sub-topic of water pollution in Grade X high school or equivalent. The research employs a descriptive method with a skinative approach. Water pollution is defined as the introduction of organisms, substances, energy, and/or other components into water due to human activities, resulting in a decline in water quality that affects its intended function. Histology preparations serve as a medium to assess the condition of organisms' tissues in rivers. Histology is essential for studying the normal tissue structure of organs or other body parts, addressing both anatomical and physiological aspects. Under a microscope, tissue preparations allow for the study of normal and abnormal tissue structures. Quality preparations must meet two criteria: identification, from organ collection through to observation, requiring expert handling; and cleanliness, assessed by the absence of air bubbles and the overall cleanliness of the preparation.
