Abstract

This research is motivated by a violation of the principle of politeness in language, because the event is more dominant with questions. The problem studied in this study is how are the maxims of wisdom, generosity, appreciation, simplicity, consensus and sympathy in the principles of language politeness in the speech of the presenters and guest stars in the Mata Najwa program on Trans 7? This study aims to describe, analyze, and interpret "Principles of Language Politeness in Mata Najwa in Trans 7". The theory used in this study is the theory of Chaer (2010) and Leech (1993). The method used in this research is descriptive method. The research approach that the author uses is qualitative research. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, documentation, listening and note-taking techniques. The results of the author's research can be concluded that the principle of politeness in the eyes of Najwa in Trans7 uses a lot of polite language such as 1) the maxim of wisdom in the Mata Najwa event on Trans 7 shows the existence of speech that maximizes the benefits of others, 2) the maxim of generosity in the Mata Najwa event in Trans 7 shows an utterance that minimizes self-benefit, 3) The maxim of appreciation in the Mata Najwa event in Trans 7 shows an utterance that maximizes praise to others. 4) the maxim of simplicity in the Mata Najwa program on Trans 7 shows that there is an utterance that minimizes self-praise. 5) the maxim of consensus in the Mata Najwa event on Trans 7 shows the existence of speech that maximizes agreement with others., 6) the maxim of sympathy in the Mata Najwa event on Trans 7 shows the existence of speech that maximizes sympathy for others.

Abstract

This research is motivated by PPL student teaching practice which is an activity that must be carried out by FKIP UIR student which includes teaching training activities and other educational tasks in school. This study aims to describe, analyze, and interpret the perception of teachers pamong to the teaching practice of PPL students of Riau Islamic University at SMA YLPI Pekanbaru school Year 2019/2020 in the activities of opening lessons, explaining lesson materials, managing class activities, and closing lessons. The method used in this study is descriptive method, the approach used is to use qualitative approach, while the data collection teachnique used is to use the spread of questionnaires. In analyzing the author’s data using several relevant theories, namely Slameto (2003), Asril (2015), Djamarah (2005), Jalaluddin (2011) and Alma (2014). The samples in this study used a full sample or a total sample, or the entire population was determined to be a sample of 23 PPL student at SMA YLPI Pekanbaru school year 2019/2020. The results of this study concluded that the perception of teachers pamong to the teaching practice of PPL students in the activities of opening lessons in good category with percentage (79,71%), activities explaining lesson materials categorized fairly by percentage (67,39%), activities managing good categorized classes with percentages (80,63%), and activities closing lessons in goof category with percentage (81,88%). So, teacher pamong’s perception of teaching practices of PPL students of Riau Islamic University at SMA YLPI Pekanbaru school year 2019/2020 is well categorized (77,4%).

Abstract

Rida K. Liamsi adalah seorang sastrawan, jurnalis, dan aktivis sosial budaya Melayu. Di antara karyanya, novel Megat yang banyak mengandung unsur sosial, etika, dan budaya Melayu. Dalam sosiologi sastra terdapat hubungan antara biografi pengarang dengan karya sastra. Masalah yang diteliti adalah pemaparan hubungan biografi pengarang dengan unsur sosiologi karya sastra dalam novel Megat karya Rida K. Liamsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis isi (content analysis). Temuan penelitian ini adalah terdapatnya hubungan antara biografi pengarang dengan unsur sosiologi karya sastra dalam novel Megat karya Rida K. Liamsi. Sebagai jurnalis, penulis, dan pengusaha media, Rida K. Liamsi adalah sosok yang idealis dan futuristik. Dia berhasil membuat media massa yang dipimpinnya maju dan berkembang dengan baik, bahkan Riau Pos menjadi media terbesar di Sumatera. Dalam novel ini, tokoh utama, Megat Ismail, adalah seorang novelis yang sedang menulis novel Megat, juga seorang jurnalis di Kepulauan Riau, kampung halaman Megat Ismail, juga tempat kelahiran Rida K. Liamsi. Tokoh utama novel ini juga pecinta sejarah dan budaya Melayu. Hal itu terlihat dari perbincangannya dengan sosok Tengku Adinda, mahasiswa S3 Jurusan Sejarah Universitas Durian Daun Melaka yang meneliti sejarah Johor dan Riau. Selain itu, novel ini juga membahas aspek sosial dan budaya Melayu. Berarti terdapat hubungan antara biografi pengarang (Rida K. Liamsi) dengan karya sastranya (novel Megat).

Abstract

Poetry is a form of literary work that is presented in beautiful and imaginative language and can be studied from various aspects. The problem studied in this study is how the ability of class VIII students to write poetry at SMP Negeri 35, Bukit Raya sub-district, Pekanbaru city for the 2022/2023 academic year based on the physical structure of poetry and the inner structure of poetry. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, interpret and conclude data on students' ability to write poetry based on physical structure and mental structure, This study using many methods about writing and choice about second sections it can be concluded that the average ability of Grade VIII students to write poetry at SMP Negeri 35, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City for the 2022/2023 school year, in terms of physical structure = 67.7 in the poor category and the ability of class VIII students to write poetry at SMP Negeri 35, Bukit Raya sub-district, Pekanbaru, for the 2022/2023 academic year, in terms of mental structure = 81.6, in the good category. So the overall result of the ability of class VIII students in writing poetry at SMP Negeri 35, Bukit Raya sub-district, Pekanbaru city, for the 2022/2023 academic year is 71.6 in the fairly good category.

Abstract

This study tries to describe, analyze, and interpret the abilities of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Singingi, Singingi District, Kuantan Singingi Regency for the 2022/2023 academic year in determining the elements of the news to be listened to. This study aims to answer the question of how well students are capable in this regard. The population in the study were 23 students of class VIII.1, and the sample used was a saturated/total sample. The research method used is descriptive with a quantitative approach and uses the theory of several experts. The results showed that the students' ability to determine news elements was in a good category with a score of 78.98. Thus, the previously established hypothesis that the students' ability to determine news elements is only sufficient with a range of 56-65 scores must be rejected because the category of scores achieved by students is in the good category.

Abstract

This study investigates students' ability in writing drama scripts at SMP Negeri 1 Mandau, Bengkalis Regency, in the academic year 2022/2023. The main objective is to obtain information about students' ability in writing drama scripts, an activity that requires a high level of creativity to produce stimulating works. This skill not only aids in the development of students' personalities and creativity but also enables them to express their ideas, thoughts, and imagination through written media. The study addresses the primary issue of the extent of students' ability in writing drama scripts at SMP Negeri 1 Mandau, Bengkalis Regency, in the academic year 2022/2023. By using a quantitative approach and descriptive method, the research findings indicate that the ability of eighth-grade students in writing drama scripts is categorized as quite good, with a range of scores between 60 to 70. Observation and test techniques are employed in data collection, and based on the analysis of the elements of writing drama scripts, the average score of students is 60.86, also categorized as quite good.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the similarities, resemblances, and differences between the vocabulary of the Malay language in these two dialects. The approach used in this research is qualitative with data analysis methods. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings show similarities, resemblances, and differences in the analyzed vocabulary between the two dialects. The implications of this research enrich our understanding of the variation of the Malay language in the Pulau Panjang and Lebuh Lurus dialects in Kuantan Singingi Regency. By understanding the similarities, resemblances, and differences between these dialects, we can better understand the dynamics of language and local culture in the region. The practical implications can be used as a reference for researchers, language instructors, and the general public in understanding and preserving the diversity of regional languages and cultures. Additionally, this research can serve as a foundation for efforts to conserve and develop the Malay language in its local context.

Abstract

Reading assessment is a form of assessment activity carried out by educators in assessing students' reading. This study uses a phenomenological approach to explore teachers' experiences as participants in learning to read stories, read poetry and read descriptive texts in developing reading assessments. This study involved 15 Indonesian language teachers and conducted in-depth interviews about reading assessments in schools. The theories used in this research are Setiadi (2016), Abdul (2003), Tarigan (1994), Yunus (2012), Tampubolon (2015), Razak (2001), Nurhayati (2009), Djiwandono (2011), and the theory of Burhan Nurgiyantoro (2014). In-depth interview analysis in this study shows that the assessment of reading saga pays attention to the assessment of speech sounds, words, sentences, letters, language, readings, pays attention to reading pauses, sentence breaks, paragraph breaks, sentence content, letter content, punctuation marks, appreciates the content. In contrast, the construction of poetry reading assessment includes the assessment of diction sounds, sounds, letters, sentences, rhymes, rhythms, stanzas, the figure of speech, confidence, language style, appreciation. Descriptive text-based assessment is to assess the accuracy of diction (use of vocabulary, conjunctions between sentences, clarity of language sounds); the assessment of the accuracy of the sentence structure of the reading pays attention to 3 assessments, namely the arrangement of sentence patterns, stringing sentences and the form of sentences used; and assessing the spelling and writing used including the assessment of punctuation, use of capital letters. Educators can use this research recommendation on the construction of reading assessment in high school in the concept of reading assessment in schools.
