Abstract

This study wasconducted inFebruary - April2012 in Buatan Lake Waters Pekanbaru City.Theaimed of this study was to determine of the pollution level of Buatan Lake waters base onofphysical, chemicalandbiological parameters. The method used was surveymethod.Samples were takenat4 (four) stationsand5 (five) pointseach stationwith samplingintervaloftimeoncea month. The result of this study showed that physical and chemicalparametersweretemperature 28.7 to 30.8°C, depth 1.4 to 3m, the brightness 46.3 to 70.9cm, pH5.7 to 6,dissolved oxygen 1.11 to 1.55mg/l, BOD54 to 5mg/l, COD 26 to 32mg/l, TSS39 to 48mg/l,total organic matter in the sedimen 22 to 33%, and most of the stasions dominatedbymudsubstrat.Macrozoobenthosfoundas many as3(three) species (Tubifexsp, ChironomusspandHesperocorixasp). The average of macrozoobenthosabundance was791 ind/m2. Base onstatistical analysis (Anova)found that no significant differences abundance between stasionsFcalc.≤ Ftab.was 0.90<4.76), as well as between months. It could be conclude that BuatanLake waters had been heavily polluted, only a few high tolerance organism could be survive.

Abstract

Marine tourism is all activities undertaken to create a fun, challenges, new experiences, and health that can only be done in the territorial waters. The study was conducted in June - July 2013 on the Balai Island of Aceh Singkil Regency, the Province of Aceh. The aims of the study were to determine the marine ecotourism potential and to formulate a strategy development of Balai Island. The method used in this study is a survey method, with respondents comprising of local people, tourists, business tourism stakeholders and policymakers. There were seven station observeds interen of water brightness, temperature, salinity, acidity, (pH), and the flow velocity carried.The results showed that the object and the potential appeal of ecologically Balai Island is a white sand with clear waters and coral reefs have great beauty, as well as activities that can be done such as fishing, snorkeling and enjoy activities such as walking around the island. From the SWOT analysis, it can be recommended as many as ten nautical tourism development strategies in the island: 1) optimization (travel packages), 2) to increase the easy transportation to get to the island, 3) to create a collaboration with the universities in research and conservation, 4) to provide counseling role and function of the importance of protecting the environment, 5) to create a bulletin board in the form of banners, pamphlets and the like to the areas that you can reach and make the print media and social media for external promotion, 6) to improve the quality of human resources, especially skills needed for ecotourism activities, 7) to increase the assurance of safety for tourists such as installing Tsunami alarms, 8) to intensity monitoring and enforcement of regulations in protecting the environment, 9) to empower the local communities in tourism promotion and marketing at the same time travel, and 10) to recom a zonation of activities of tourism.Keywords: Potential, Marine Ecotourism, Balai Island, Aceh Singkil

Abstract

This study was aimed to: 1) assess the potential and condition of mangrove ecosystems in Bokor Village to be developed into ecotourism destination, 2) knowing the level of community participations and perceptions, 3) knowing the effort and perceptions of stakeholders concerning to development ecotourism in Bokor Village, and 4) developing a strategy for ecotourism in Bokor Village. The methods used in this study were observation, survey and interviews.The results showed that the mangrove forest in the Bokor Village had good density with very dense with a density of 2955.55 Ind/ha and there were 13 species of mangrove flora. The average value of the category of community participation showed 0.41, thus community participation in the development of ecotourism in the Bokor Village was relatively low. The average value of the category community perceptions was 3.32, it means the level of community perceptions of ecotourism development was classified as supporting category. Furthermore, the results showed that the stakeholders related provide a very strong support for the development of ecotourism in the Bokor Village.Based on the result of SWOT analysis, the development strategy in the Bokor Village was by applying an aggressive strategy (Growth Oriented Strategy) or also known as S-O Strategy (Strength-Opportunities). This consisted of making the general management plan and conservation site plan for the development of ecotourism, building and adding the quality of products/services ecotourism (High Quality), improving access to a wider market and establishing cooperation with universities or research institutions in the field of research and conservation.Keywords: Bokor Village, Ecotourism, Participations, Perceptions

Abstract

This research was conducted in January 2013 in South Painan Nagari Cingkuak Island District IV Jurai South Coastal District of West Sumatra Province. This study aims to determine the potential of marine ecotourism of Cingkuak Island and determine the level of community participation, the government and other stakeholders in the development of marine ecotourism. The method used in this study is a survey method. Data taken and observed consist of primary and secondary data. The sample selection of the interview conducted by using purposive sampling method.Cingkuak island has potential for marine tourism and a significant opportunity to develop a marine ecotourism. Ecosystems contained island ecosystem cingkuak like coral reefs, seagrass, mangrove and wealth of flora and fauna. Things that support marine ecotourism in the Cingkuak Island parameter water quality, geomorphology, climate, and adequate infrastructure. Community participation can be seen coming from the tour players. Abstract

This research was conducted in June 2013 at Riau River Estuary inTanjungpinang City Riau Islands Province. This research aimed to find out themacrozoobenthos community structure and its relationship to seagrass vegetation.The method on the research was survey method. The existence of macrozoobenthosin this area showed the dynamic symbiosis among seagrass and marine organisms.The results also showed seagrass ecosystem had the high potential to be managed andused by communities and also increasing the fisheries productivity on coastal area.Species composition of macrozoobenthos in the area consisted of 8 species, i.e.Strombus sp, Cerithidea quadrata, Pina bicolor, Anadara sp, Anadara inflata,Atactodea striata, Asteroidea sp and Diadema sitosum. Two species of seagrassvegetation were found in this area, those were Enhalus acoroides, and Halophilaovalis. T-test analysis showed that the average of macrozoobenthos abundance oneach station differed unsignificantly (p>0,05). The regression analysis showed thatrelationship among seagrass vegetation diversity and macrozoobenthos abundancewas at r=0,35.Keywords: Riau River, Macrozoobenthos, Seagrass, Symbiont.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted on September to October 2014. The study aims were to determine the abundance, size distribution and distribution pattern of mangrove snail (T. telescopium) in the Darul Aman Coastal Bengkalis Regency. The method used was a survey method. Samples of snail population and sediment were collected by a single visit during low tide. Location of study was divided into 3 stations. Station I have grow rare mangrove, residential community and coastal abrasion, station II have dense and closely mangrove, station III have close with river estuary, rarely struck high tide because higher dan mangrove grow rarely than. The sample analysis carried out in Marine Biologi Laboratory of Fishery and Marine Science Faculty of Riau University.The results of the study show that the highest abundance of snail was at the station III (2,05 ind/m2) and the lowest was at the station I (0,6 ind/m2). The most dominant of size distribution is 81 – 90 mm. Distribution pattern in this area is uniform with Id between 0,88 – 0,98.Keywords: Telescopium telescopium. abundance. distribution. Abstract

Seagrasses are plants adapted to live fully in the marine environment. Seagrass plays an important role in coastal areas due to critical habitat for many kinds of marine animals such as fish, molluscs, crustaceans, echinoderms. The research was conducted inJanuary 2015 inBeruk Island Waters in order to know the different of seagrass distribution and density in northern and southern partsof Beruk Island. The method used was line transect and applyingsix stations, namely stations I, II and III in the southern part of Beruk Island and stations IV, V and VI in the northern area of Beruk Island. The results obtained II seagrass species, i.e. Enhalus acoroides and Halophila ovalis.The pattern of distribution of seagrass at southern of Beruk Island was randomized and E. acoroideswas found as the most dominant species. However,the distribution  in northern of Beruk Island was cluster at station IV and V and randomized at station VI with the dominant species wasH. ovalis. The highest E. acoroides density was found in southern of Beruk Island at station II with the total density of 80 individuals/m2.The highest H. ovalis density in northern partof Beruk Island was at station V with the total density of40 individuals/m2. Abstract

This study was conducted in July 2015 with the aim to observe the macrozoobenthospopulation and organic matter content in the sediment. The samples were collected from HurunBay in Lampung Province with using survey method. Samples were analyzed in the Laboratoryof Water Quality BBPPL Lampung and Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and MarineSciences University of Riau. The study showed that the organic content in the sediment between22.88 - 54.91%, while the abundance of macrozoobenthos was between 20.29 - 66.67 ind / m2.Macrozoobenthos identified in Hurun Bay 8 species, 3 classes and 2 phylua. From the phylum ofMollusca there were Gastropod i.e. which had 5 species and from the classes of bivalves thestudy also found two species. From the phylum annelid there was one class, Polychaeta and onespecies, i.e. Nereis sp. The relationship between macrozoobenthos and organic content wasexpressed with the equation of Y = 9,411 + 0,6268X that the relationship of organic matter withmacrozoobenthos abundance was weak.Keywords: Lampung, sediment, organic, makrozoobenthos

Abstract

The use of probiotic is one of alternatives to solve disease problem in aquaculture. This research aimed to examine tolerance of three lactic acid bacteria (KP1, KP2, and KP3) isolated from kakap putih (Lates calcarifer) toward pH and bile salt at different consentration. The bacterial isolates were enriched on MRS agar medium. Tolerance to pH was conducted in MRS broth at pH 3, 5 and 8. While, tolerance to bile salt were performed on MRS agar at consentration of 0, 0,1, 0,2, 0,3, and 0,4 %. Isolate KP3 at pH and incubated for 48 hours showed the highest tolerance, but the highest tolerance to bile salt was indicated by isolated KP2 at bile salt consentration of 0,3 %.Keyword: Tolerance, probiotic, Kakap Putih, pH, Bile Salt.

Abstract

The research be conducted in January 2017. Observation of mangrove forest density and was done in mangrove forest area in Puteri Sembilan Village, North Rupat Sub-district, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The purpose of this research is to know the structure of mangrove vegetation in Desa Puteri Sembilan. In this study concluded that there are 7 species of mangroves namely: Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorhiza. B. sexangula, Kandelia candel, Aegiceras floridum, Amyena gravis and Avicennia alba. Based on the index of type diversity, station I was categorized as low with value of H '= 1,5131. Station II index of diversity of type including low category with value H' = 1,094 and at station III index of diversity type still belongs to low category with value H '= 1, 2284.
