Abstract

Introduction : Benzene is a volatile compound and widely uses as a solvent. In its work process, printingindustry used materials containing benzene. One of the target organs of benzene exposure is bone marrow.Therefore, the effect of benzene exposure is damage to the blood formation system.Methods : This research was an observational study with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional design.Subjects used 11 workers population of printing X Surabaya. All variables were analyzed by using rankspearman correlation.Result: The test results showed that most of the levels of benzene exposure exceeded the determined LimitValue. A total of 6 (64%) workers worked ≥ 10 years. The test results revealed significant benzene exposurewith changes in HCT and MCHC values. The average safe concentration of benzene is 0.01868. The resultsof safe C testing with blood profile showed that significant for safe C Benzene with red blood cells RBC andHCT (p<0,05).Conclussion : The results of the calculation of safe C benzene and blood profile of workers showed asignificant relationship between safe C and RBC and HCT. There was no significant relationship in WBC,HGB, MCV, MCH, MCHC.

Abstract

Introduction: Safe concentrations of non-carcinogenic toluene can cause adverse effects on health. Based on the results of a research, toxic effects on toluene exposure can cause cancerous (leuikimia) and non-cancerous (aplastic anemia). The Research objective to determine the safe concentration of non-carcinogenic toluene in Surabaya printing. Methods: The research design used was observational analytic, cross sectional research design with a quantitative approach. The research location was a printing press in Surabaya. The variables in this study were the concentration of toluene levels (ppm) and RQ in workers. Total population was 37 workers, while the study sample was taken using accidental sampling method with a total sample of 30 respondents. The formula for determining the concentration of toluene non carcinogen intake is (CxRxtExfExDt): (Wbx30x365). Results: The concentration value of toluene exposure was greater than the standard set by labor regulations No. 5 of 2018 about occupational health and safety of the work environment by 0.2 ppm. A total of 10% of workers falls under normal category, 73% above normal category and 27% below normal category. Conclusion: In this study, we found new findings, viz the concentration of toluene exposure in Surabaya printing area was above normal with a concentration of 0.2 ppm and this is considered not normal.Keywords: non carcinogenic toluene, safe concentration, surabaya printing, toluene

Abstract

This research objective is to describe the process and model of harmonious communication among religious adherents and the supporting and inhibiting factors for the occurrence of harmonious communication in Sorong, West Papua. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research to understand the process and model of communication between religious adherents. The research subject of interfaith leaders in Sorong amounted to 7 informant. The data collection method was done by interview and documentation techniques.  Furthermore, the research result is a description of the process of harmonious communication among religious adherents carried out through the stages of structuring harmony and productivity. While, the stages of structuring harmony are carried out through the process of instilling mutual understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect among the adherents of the religion. The steps have resulted in productivity, namely; the realization of harmony among religious communities, and rised to a harmonious communication model that was built based on peace, tolerance, and cooperation. Supporting factors for harmonious communication are the role of the "Forum on Religious Harmony" (FKUB) and the role of religion and culture.  The factor of inhibiting is the existence of socio-economic inequality and ineffective communication between local leaders and communities and national leaders.

Abstract

Introduction: Exposure of toluene can cause a decrease in glutathione concentration, increase inmalondialdehyde and neurotoxic symptoms. The safe duration of toluene in hours/day for each person canvary. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the safe duration of toluene (hours/day) with the concentration of glutathione, malondialdehyde and neurotoxic symptoms in Osowilangunshoe home industry workers.Methods: This research was observational with quantitative approach and cross-sectional design. Thesampling technique used was accidental sampling with 25 respondents. The variables studied were safetoluene duration (hours/day), glutathione concentration, malondialdehyde concentration, and neurotoxicsymptoms. Data were analyzed using Pearson and Phi correlation.Result: The average of safe duration was 1,489 hours/day, glutathione concentration was 58,349 µg/L,and malondialdehyde was 7,847 MU. As many as 11 out of 14 workers experienced neurotoxic symptoms.The relationship between safe duration (hours/day) with glutathione concentration (r=0.139) andmalondialdehyde (r=-0.146) was very weak. While, the relationship between safe duration (hours/day) andneurotoxic symptoms was weak (?=-0.223).Conclusion: The relationship between safe duration in hours/day with glutathione concentration andmalondialdehyde was very weak, while relationship with neurotoxic symptoms was weak.

Abstract

Introduction: Toluene is the main organic solvent found in adhesives used for shoe production inOsowilangun Shoes Home Industry. Exposure to toluene that exceeds the threshold value can cause theemergence of free radicals which eventually increase the concentration of malondialdehyde and reduce theconcentration of glutathione in the body. The purpose of this research is to study the safe concentration oftoluene with levels of malondialdehyde and glutathione in Osowilangun shoe home industry workers.Methods: This is an observational study using cross sectional design and quantitative approaches. Thereare 25 people were taken as sample by using accidental sampling technique. Data analysis used Pearsoncorrelation test.Result: The average safe concentration value in this study was 1.1088 mg / m3 with an average value ofmalondialdehyde of 7,784 MU and glutathione of 35,655 ?g / L. Pearson correlation test showed the safeconcentration of toluene and malondialdehyde level was p=0.685 (p> 0.05), with relationship between safeconcentrations of toluene and glutathione was p = 0.808 (p <0.05).Conclusion: This study shows that there was no significant relationship between toluene safe concentrationand levels of malondialdehyde and glutathione.

Abstract

Sektor pertanian di Desa Katur menjadi tumpuan utama masyarakat dalam memperoleh penghasilan. Dengan demikian, permasalahan pertanian menjadi isu utama dalam memberdayakan masyarakat. Oleh karenanya, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan PAR (Participatory Action Research). Adapun teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan focus grup discussion. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Dukuh Bangklen Desa Katur Kecamatan Gayam Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Melalui pendekatan PAR, peneliti bersama masyarakat  melakukan proses identifikasi permasalahan dan potensi lalu merencanakan serta melakukan aksi pemberdayaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberdayaan kelompok perempuan menjadi lebih tanggap terhadap potensi pertanian dan mampu mengolah hasil panen jagung menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomi.

Abstract

Coronavirus 19 is a deadly disease that can kill thousands of people worldwide. However, not many researchers know that NO content can kill the COVID-19 virus. This research method is study design used retrospective methods, prospective and a systematic review. Search for reference sources began on March 10th - June 1st, 2021, using several online databases: 1) Pubmed, 2) Science Direct, 3) Google Scholar. Keywords used in the search term: COVID-19, Novel Coronavirus, SARS-CoV, Nitric Oxide, Dark Chocolate, Macrophages and included in journals accredited. This study looked for a list of references from the study, including 103 studies taken through the search. There are 63 articles in cleaning, and eight articles are included in the discussion. This review shows that COVID-19 can be attenuated and killed by the NO content produced by macrophages and supplied with NO content modulated by dark chocolate. Modulating NO-rich foods such as dark chocolate can effectively kill COVID-19. NO can also cure several diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and some respiratory infections.

Abstract

Asthma is not actually a contagious disease, but this disease is classified as a dangerous disease. Asthma can reduce the quality of life of a person. In fact, it can cause death for sufferers if not handled properly. Every asthma patient has different knowledge and experience in managing and curing asthma. Especially related to illness, illness, and treatment of asthma. This study aims to determine self-healing by asthma patients, the majority of whom come from Javanese ethnicity and are Muslim. Javanese have a philosophy of life including; Nrimo Ing Pandum, Rila, Ngluruk Tanpa Bala Menang Tanpa Ngasorake, and Manunggaling Kawulo Gusti. The research method used is qualitative-phenomenological. Data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation and field notes. The research subjects were patients who treated at the asthma clinic of RSUD dr. Soetomo Surabaya. The results showed that there is a unique self-healing that is carried out by patients with asthma, every things that happens is always accepted and there is a connection with God. Self-healing can help strengthen the emotions (thoughts, attitudes, and actions) of asthma patients. So that in the healing process, patients can be categorized as a fully controlled asthma patient and a partially controlled asthma patient.

Abstract

Kota Surabaya merupakan pusat perdagangan dan perekonomian di Jawa Timur, namun berdasarkan data yang ada, masih terdapat masyarakat yang kurang berdaya. Dalam sektor perdagangan, misalnya, beberapa masyarakat masih kesulitan untuk bersaing dan mengembangkan usahanya. Sebagai lembaga yang bergerak di bidang pemberdayaan masyarakat, Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI) Perwakilan Jawa Timur melaksanakan program lapak berkah yang berfokus pada pemberdayaan masyarakat yang kurang berdaya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan proses pemberdayaan masyarakat di Kota Surabaya melalui program lapak berkah IZI serta dampak yang dihasilkan dari program tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian PAR (Participatory Action Research). PAR (Participatory Action Research) merupakan penelitian yang melibatkan secara aktif semua pihak-pihak yang relevan (stakeholders) dalam mengkaji tindakan yang sedang berlangsung. Dalam prosesnya, peneliti melakukan wawancara dengan penanggung jawab program lapak berkah serta beberapa mustahik, yaitu penerima bantuan dari program ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui program lapak berkah IZI Perwakilan Jawa Timur dilakukan dengan memberikan bantuan modal dan gerobak kepada para mustahik. Hal ini sejalan dengan teori pemberdayaan masyarakat dari Jim Ife yang menyatakan bahwa pemberdayaan masyarakat melibatkan pemberian sumber daya, wawasan, dan kesempatan agar masyarakat dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mereka dan menentukan masa depannya sendiri. Dalam program ini, mustahik mendapatkan sumber daya berupa gerobak dan modal, wawasan ekonomi serta pengetahuan agama melalui pendampingan, serta keterampilan ekonomi untuk menunjang usaha mereka.
