Abstract

Literacy awareness has been arising in all community levels, started form children to adults, woman to man. How to make them literate for any aspect of life is the goal of this movement. Moreover, this awareness has been spread gradually with lining to the development of community’s engagement in their external involvement that influences their internal community. This research discusses about how literacy movement in Ruang Baca Tanah Ombak as a new phenomenon on literacy can be as a base of literacy spirit for eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world to reach one of sustainable development goals that is education especially in Indonesia. Thus, an observation, documentation, and deep interview among the initiators, volunteers, and target group had been done in order to find how motivation strengthened the management system in problem solving, goals, and future target applied in this community. Further, the observation result, the documentation, and the interview recording were used as data to be analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The main target of this research is to form managerial pattern of community-based literacy movement with the aim to provide model as a reference for other communities in building the literacy movement for their society. In conclusion, it is found that community-based literacy movement was a crucial matter in changing community’s understanding about the importance of literacy for human life.Keywords: Community-Based Literacy Movement, Sustainable Development Goals, Managerial Pattern, Ruang Baca Tanah Ombak

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengungkapkan penghancuran ideologi fasisme oleh Russia, dan (2) mengetahui peran karakter, seting, dan plot dalam membantu mengetahui tindakan penghancuran fasisme. Kutipan teks dalam novel ini dianalisa menggunakan teori power dari Michel Foucault secara interpretasi teks dan konteks. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penghancuran ideologi fasisme dilakukan dengan cara menghancurkan hidup orang-orang Jerman.

Abstract

Literary works are often used as a medium to criticize and explain social problems experienced by society. One of these literary works is the drama script West Side Story by Arthur Laurenst. This study focuses on the criticism of several social problems described in the play West Side Story. This study uses the method of content analysis of literary texts which are then interpreted by researchers. Research data sourced from the play West Side Story was collected using the library research method. Through analysis with the Sociology of Literature approach which focuses on sociological aspects in a work, it is found that there is a critique of social problems described in the play West Wide Story. The criticism is related to the problem of poverty which leads to violence and deprivation; juvenile delinquency in the form of immoral acts as a result of family disharmony; wars that cause damage to the natural environment; and degrading and harassing women.

Abstract

Literature has become an inseparable part of the history of human civilization. Literature is considered to carry a dual function during its existence; it is not only entertaining (dulce) but it also offers meaning (utile) to life itself. The aesthetic value of using language, essentially, offers a different way of looking at and fostering empathy. In other words, literary texts affect the reader's perception of space which in this case is represented by those whose sense of sight works perfectly—while literature is expected to be present for all. On the other hand, people with visual impairments have limitations in accessing literary works. So a creative solution is needed that is able to bridge this problem. In the community service program carried out at the Bina Netra Tuah Sakato Padang Social Institution, the instructors conducted braille writing training for college students as well as introducing literary works, especially poetry, to the clients there. In addition, an adaptation was carried out through the making of a compilation of braille poetry books and the recording of contemporary poetry in the form of audiobooks to be handed over to the library at the social institution. This paper reviews the program in the “Literature for All” campaign to make it more contextual and accessible to everyone—especially those with visual impairments.

Abstract

Sektor Pariwisata semakin menggeliat baik dalam kancah lokal maupun global. Hal ini membuat posisi kehumasan dan jurnalistik menjadi sangat krusial dalam tataran pemasaran pariwisata kepada turis lokal maupun manca negara. Lulusan siswa SMK konsentrasi Produk Siaran Program Televisi (PSPT) sebagai calon aktor akan terlibat didalamnya dan SMKN 2 Padang Panjang sebagai salah satu SMK yang memiliki program kejuruan produksi siaran program televisi menggaungkan broadcasting sebagai penciri utama sekolah. Pembelajaran broadcasting di sekolah ini haruslah diintegrasikan dengan bahasa Inggris, mengingat program revitalisasi SMK adalah pengaplikasian bilingual learning ecosystem dimana bahasa Inggris adalah kemampuan yang harus dimiliki oleh lulusan SMK dalam upaya mempersiapkan diri menghadapi persaingan global yang semakin kompleks. Hal ini diimplementasikan dalam bentuk pembelajaran berbasis produksi dengan pendekatan teaching factory dan business centre.  Namun demikian, terdapat beberapa permasalahan internal terkait hal ini seperti belum meratanya kemampuan siswa dalam hal kehumasan dan jurnalistik, belum spesifiknya bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris untuk SMK dalam konsentrasi jurusan tersebut, rendahnya keterampilan siswa dalam berbahasa Inggris dalam konteks kegunaan kehumasan dan jurnalistik. Maka dari itu diperlukan langkah kongkrit untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut salah satunya dengan pemberian workshop kepada siswa. Kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan adalah memberikan workshop terpadu atau pelatihan penguatan kompetensi kehumasan dan jurnalistik berbasis digital berbahasa Inggris sebagai implementasi bilingual learning ecosystem di SMK.

Abstract

Tingginya angka tunakarya terdidik di Nagari Taratak berdampak pada melemahnya perekonomian masyarakat. Di sisi lain, sektor wisata Pantai Simpang Tigo Buayo Putiah yang tengah dikembangkan oleh pemerintah Nagari Taratak belum dikenal secara luas. Pelatihan Tourism E-vlog dilaksanakan guna menggencarkan promosi digital pariwisata Pantai Simpang Tigo Buayo Putiah dan menanamkan rasa tanggung jawab dalam diri para pemuda terhadap keberlangsungan pariwisata lokal tersebut. Pelatihan hybrid ini diikuti oleh 20 peserta yang merupakan warga Nagari Taratak usia 18-22 tahun dengan pendidikan terakhir SMA/sederajat dan belum bekerja. Metode sosialisasi digunakan di awal pertemuan dengan materi pariwisata ramah lingkungan, dilanjutkan dengan practice-based learning selama 5 kali pertemuan dengan materi: (1) fotografi; (2) video editing; (3) penyusunan literasi konten, dan (4) pengelolaan akun youtube, dan project-based learning pada pendampingan individu dan kelompok selama 2 kali pertemuan dengan total 32 JP. Dari pelatihan ini, terbentuk satu POKDARWIS Pesona Alam dan karya berupa vlog promosi wisata kelompok dan individu yang sudah diunggah ke akun youtube dan instagram masing-masing peserta. Selain itu, pelatihan ini juga menghasilkan persepsi positif para peserta dalam hal: (1) munculnya pemahaman pariwisata ramah lingkungan; (2) peningkatan kepedulian terhadap pariwisata lokal; dan (3) peningkatan kompetensi pembuatan vlog promosi wisata.
