Abstract

The water flow is mostly used to generate electrical energy. The proposed research is to know the efficiency and maximum power generated by the waterwheel. In this research, the experimental method is used the water flow for irrigation, which is used to move the water wheel. The water wheel used is a type of undershot flat blade type 2 m diameter with 18 pieces of blade. The highest efficiency discharge by water wheel was 46.19 % with debit 0.313 m3/s and highest power produced water wheel 219.12 watts with debit 0.313 m3 / s. The water level greatly affects all aspects of the water wheel working system.Keywords: water wheel, undershot flat blade, efficiency

Abstract

Solar energy is light radiation and heat from the sun that is harnessed to generate electrical energy. Solar cell is one of the examples from solar energy usage and has been spreadly used by global society including application towards traffic light which is the focus in this study. Simply, Solar cell is converting light energy into electrical energy which commonly installed statically with a certain tilt angle. Meanwhile, solar cell installation location geographically has a different maximum tilt angle every month. Solar tracker is a power booster combined with solar panel which could help it to move mechanically to keep upright angle position towards the sun in daily basis. In addition, Data logger system is used to record voltage, current, and power used to load. Through this study, battery with capacity 12V 3,5Ah and solar cell 50WP could enlighten traffic light maximally for 14 hours and 31 minutes by applying solar tracker as well as showed performance increament for 27,18% higher than non-tracker experiment.Keywords: Solar Cell, Solar Tracker, Traffic Light, Data Logger

Abstract

The fan centrifugal for exhaust of welding gas has developed to ensure the welder in healthy from the effect of welding gas emition. The purpose of this study was measure the amount of gas in order to know suitable position and space in welding proces. Testing done with variation of distances, positions and the production of smoke. The testing have conducted in horizontal and vertikal positions. The positions are 10 cm, 20cm, 30 cm from the center of pipe suction. Respectively the diameter of welding electrodes are 2.6 mm, 3.2 mm, 4.0 mm. The fan centrifugal is able to exhaust the gases of welding it look there is no gases left after welding process in the end. Abstract

This research was taken cause lack of potential energy use on water turbine with low head. In this research is done flow structure analysis on undershot water turbine flat blade type with variations of water level refers to the results that have been done. This research has purpose to obtain flow structure such as pressure distribution and water velocity vector around the water turbine blades. In the modeling of geometry design Autodesk Inventor 2016 was used and simulated by ANSYS 15.0. The design on this research was variaties with 4 designs that will compared and analysed demanding on immersed blade depth in water fluid flow. From the result of simulation the difference of water level shown flow structure different, which are the maximum pressure distribution and water velocity vector is at first condition (H = 880 mm) and the maximum blade force hit by water cause of potential energy is at (H = 880 mm) respectively 48.1 Pa (Static Pressure), 57.0 Pa (Total Pressure), 0.3479 m/s (Velocity Magnitude), 1.28 N (Blade 1), 11.47 N (Blade 2) and 18.42 N (Blade 3).Keywords: Low-Head, Immersed Blade Depth, Pressure Distribution, Velocity Vector, ANSYS Simulation.

Abstract

Serindit V-2 is an unmanned aircraft by the Serindit Aero UAV research team. It has the ability to fly rapidly in order to compete in KRTI in the Racing Plane division. Although it has been successfully produced and able to fly, comprehensive research on aerodynamic of Serindit V-2 aircraft flying behavior has never been done before. Aerodynamic research need to be conducted to improve the aircraft performance such as flying capability, air resistance efficiency and etc. This study aims to determine the value of flow characteristic such as coefficient of drag, lift, moment and pressure distribution based on fluid flow that occurs in the aircraft with variations of Angle of Attack and air velocity. The method used is CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) which is a computer-based numerical method and performed with an iterative procedure to predict aerodynamic characteristics and fluid flow phenomena on the aircraft surface. Simulations were carried out using Ansys Fluent software on the Serindit V-2 aircraft model sourced from the Serindit Aero Team. The result of the lift coefficient value is CLo = 0.3666 and CLMax value = 1.42626 at α 13o. The CDo obtained was 0.0589258. While the CMo value obtained is -8.34 x 10-5.Keyword: Flow Characteristics, CFD, Ansys Fluent

Abstract

Among renewable energy sources, energy from water in small scale water power plants much in demand because the operation is cheap, clean and environmentally friendly. Especially in low head, this type of power plants becomes the best choice for electrifying remote area in developing country and one of the best type is screw turbine. In this study the author will discusses the effect of differences inner diameter of screw turbine on the efficiency of the Archimedes turbine. This experiment using two variations of the ratio of the inner diameter to the outer diameter which is 0.1Do and 0.5Do at turbine length 0.9 m and outer diameter 0.25m and pitch 2Ro (the turbine length, outer diameter and pitch both turbine are equal). This experiment using variety of water flow discharge from 1.35 – 0.09 l/s and variety of angle of inclination of the turbine from 0o – 60o (with the addition of angle by 10o). This test is carried out to determine the efficiency of both turbine. The result of this experiment indicating the most efficiency achieved by turbine witch inner diameter 0.5Do which is 15.71% and followed by inner diameter 0.1Do is 6.85%. The most efficiency of the both turbine obtained on angle of inclination 40o and flow discharge 0.8 l/s. Keywords: Screw turbine, inner diameter, flow discharge, angle of inclination, efficiency

Abstract

Penyebaran pandemi Corona Virus 19 masih menjadi ancaman serius. Pencegahan penyebaran dan penanganan pasien di rumah sakit bagi individu yang memunculkan gejala merupakan kunci utama mengatasi penyakit ini. Kurangnya transportasi air pada wilayah kepulauan terpencil di Indonesia, menyebabkan lambatnya penanganan pada pasien Covid-19. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sebuah kapal ambulance yang mempunyai performa yang baik agar dapat mengangkut pasien menuju rumah sakit. Kajian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk merancang prototipe kapal ambulance sebagai solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Dari perancangan prototipe ini, diharapkan dapat dibuat dalam ukuran kapal yang sebenarnya. Jenis lambung yang digunakan yaitu monohull. Kajian ini dimulai dengan perhitungan ukuran utama, membuat rencana garis dan rencana umum, selanjutnya melakukan analisis hidrostatik, hambatan, stabilitas dan seakeeping kapal. Dengan menggunakan metode perbandingan optimasi dari kapal pembanding, didapatkan ukuran utama prototipe kapal yaitu LOA= 0,9 m, H= 0,25 m, B= 0,3 m, dan T= 0,07 m. Hasil perhitungan hidrostatik prototipe kapal memiliki displacement sebesar 5,139 kg dengan CB= 0,334. Nilai hambatan total prototipe kapal sebesar 31,42 N dan daya motor sebesar 428,77 W. Hasil stabilitas menunjukkan nilai GZ terbesar yaitu 11,26 cm pada sudut swing 70°. Untuk seakeeping prototipe kapal didapatkan nilai RAO yang paling tinggi pada sudut gelombang beam sea arah sisi prototipe kapal.

Abstract

The study waterwheel performance has done by utilizing the potentional of water energy source which is found inirrigation channel in Koto Tibun Village, Kampar Subdistrict, Kampar Regency. The purpose of this study is todetermine the achievement of the waterwheel curved undershot type on the irrigation canal. The design has beendone to get a curved angle of 54.21⁰ with a blade length of 0.7 m. The result is obtained from the test is the massof water type (ρ) 972 Kg / m³, the maximum water wheel eaya 244.3736 W at the 5th discharge (Q5) is 0.2221 m³/ s, and the highest efficiency 58.62576% at the discharge 3 (Q3 = 0.1671 m³ / s) with 1.3 rpm and 186.874 W.Achievement of waterwheels curved undershot curve can be seen through the power graph and the efficiency ofthe rotation indicating that the greater the value it will be along with the increase in rotational speed and willdrop at a certain speed of play.Keywords: waterwheel, undershot, curved blade, irrigation, picohydro

Abstract

The conveying process of solid particles with air as a medium transport is commonly found in industries. Phenomenon that occurs and must be calculated appropriately is the pressure drop on pneumatic conveyor pipeline. Computational Fluid Dynamics is a system analysis that used to predict fluid flow. The pressure drop that occurs in horizontal pipeline with a length of 2 m, an inner diameter of 80 mm and a thickness of 4 mm is simulated with Euler-euler model. Pressure drop characteristics to particle mass flow rate, particle concentration, particle diameter and air velocity was investigated. The simulation was performed using Fluent 14.5. The results indicated that with the increase of mass flow rate of particles, particle diameter and air flow rate, the pressure drop will increase. Particle concentration does not have a considerable influence in the pressure drop on horizontal pipeline.Keywords : CFD, particles, pressure drop

Abstract

Currently the electricity has became a major requirement for human life. To fulfill the needs of electricity, the society used normally rely on state power generation company. Besides, that seemingly to electricity can be generated by means of utilizing the potential of natural energy that is around us. One untapped sources of the potential energy is energy of water, which in reservoirs of an environment campus of the University of Riau. According surveys, reservoir’s Riau University has head of 0.7 m and flow of 0.02 m3/s. This data used as a basis data to design type of overshot waterwheel. The waterwheel was tested by varying the penstock shape i.e cylindrical and rectangular. Based on design method was produced the diameter of waterwheel, the number and size of the blades as well as the sizes of penstock. The outside diameter and inside of wheel were 0.6 m and 0.5 m. Number of blades were 18 pieces with an area of 0,01m2. Then, the cylindrical penstock has 0.089 m of the diameter, whereas rectangular penstock sized of 0.1 m of wide and 0.1 m of high. Maximum power output was generated by the waterwheel with a cylindrical penstock of 21.05 Watt and efficiency of 43.78%, while for rectangular penstock was indicated the maximum power output of 19.8 Watts and efficiency of 42.40%.Keywords : PLTPH, Design of Water Wheel, Penstock
