Abstract

The aim of this research was to seek raw materials for preparing liquid smoke, and then evaluated in laboratory for knowing its effects on feeding, development and mortality of the cabbage head caterpillar, Crocidolomia pavonana (F.) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on cabbage. Antifeedant activity of the liquid was tested against third-instar of the caterpillar larvae with leaf residual method in leaf disc no-choice tests and contact method. Result of the research showed that the liquid at concentration from 3 - 22% reduced feeding by 22.94 - 51.52%, and prolonged period of the caterpillar development to pupation by 0.27 - 0.33 days compared to controls. The effects of test liquid smoke on mortality of Crocidolomia pavonana third-and fourth (final)-instar larvae were fed for 48 h broccoli leaves treated with a leaf residual and dipping method. The result show that the treatment 3 - 22% liquid smoke was not caused larvae death. The effects of liquid smoke from coconut shell (a raw material of the chosen few) was to take possession of antifeedant activity from weak to moderate against C. pavonana larvae.The effects of antifeedant from weak to moderate were the liquid at concentration from 3 - 22%. All the above effects could not give substantial suppression of C. pavonana population if the liquid was used in the field.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the type and potency of egg parasitoid in controlling brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) pests in Banyumas regency after the pest’s explosion. This research has been conducted in five districts of the endemic area of brown planthopper in Banyumas Regency, i.e. in  Jatilawang, Cilongok, Kebasen, Sumpiuh, and Kembaran. Each of the  districts was taken 5 sample villages. The testing and calculation of the level of parasitization  were done in the laboratory of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. The research  used nest plot design, where  the first factor was the district and the second factor was the village. Village nested in  district. The data were  analyzed using F 5% test,  followed by 5% DMRT, if there were  any differences found . The results of the study were as follows: (1) The parasitoids found in Banyumas Regency were Gonatocerus sp. and Oligosita sp. with the ability to parasite 26.8−64.73%, and 1.82−31.40%; (2) the presence parasitoid has the potency  to suppress the intensity of brown planthopper attack on the vegetative phase, the intensity of attacks ranged between 6.96−23.58%, with brown planthopper population ranged from 0.84 to 27.36 individuals per hill. IntisariPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis dan potensi parasitoid telur dalam mengendalikan hama wereng batang coklat (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) di Kabupaten Banyumas pasca terjadinya ledakan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lima kecamatan daerah endemik wereng batang cokelat di wilayah Kabupaten Banyumas yaitu Kecamatan Jatilawang, Cilongok, Kebasen, Sumpiuh, Kembaran. Masing-masing kecamatan diambil 5 desa sampel. Pengujian dan penghitungan tingkat pemarasitan dilakukan di laboratorium Perlindungan Tanaman Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan petak tersarang,  dengan kecamatan sebagai faktor pertama  dan desa sebagai faktor kedua. Desa tersarang pada kecamatan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji F 5%, apabila ada perbedaan dilanjutkan dengan uji banding ganda DMRT 5 %. Adapun hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Parasitoid yang ditemukan di Kabupaten Banyumas adalah Gonatocerus sp. dan Oligosita sp. dengan kemampuan memarasit 26,8−64,73%, dan sebesar 1,82−31,40 %, (2) keberadaan parasitoid berpotensi menekan intensitas serangan hama wereng batang cokelat pada fase vegetatif, intensitas serangan berkisar antara 6,96−23,58%, dengan populasi wereng batang cokelat berkisar 0,84−27,36 individu per rumpun.

Abstract

Nilaparvata lugens Stål. is an essential pest in rice plants. This pest attack can reduce crop yields and even crop failure. This research was conducted to obtain secondary metabolites that are effective in controlling brown planthopper (BPH). A randomized block design was used to test the effectiveness of secondary metabolites against BPH. The treatments tested were secondary metabolites produced by eight isolates of fungi consist of three concentrations: 5, 10, and 15%. Water and imidacloprid insecticide were used as control. The eight isolates were: J11 (Aspergillus sp.), J22 (Lecanicillium saksenae), J34 (Myrothecium sp.), J35 (Beauveria sp.), J41 (Fusarium sp.), J56 (Fusarium sp), J60 (Simplicillium sp.), and J65 (Curvularia sp.). Each treatment was repeated three times. The variables observed were mortality and time of death of BPH. Data were analyzed using the F test and followed by a DMRT if significant differences existed. The results showed that the secondary metabolites of the Lecanicillium saksenae, Myrothecium sp., and Simplicillium sp. fungi effectively controlled BPH pests by 80‒100% within 3.22‒5.47 days. The fungus L. saksenae, Myrothecium sp., and Simplicillium sp. contain insecticidal compounds, clogging the insect spiraculum, antifeedant, repellant, and antimicrobial.

Abstract

The specific purpose of this activity is to increase the motivation of women in improving the quality of life and self-reliance in the family by optimizing the yard with organic vegetable farming in the lowlands based on Local Wisdom and Sustainable.  The strategy used was  the empowerment of target groups with the approach of Participatory Rural Appraisal, methods of education, training, demonstration plots, assistance and equipped with learning by doing techniques. The materials presented were: (1) garden  intensification technology with verticultur method, (2) organic vegetable cultivation technology based on liquid organic fertilizer, botanical pesticide and PGPR, (3) composting technology with enrichment of Trichoderma harzianum (Tricho-compos) activator of local microorganism, (4) technology of pest and disease control on environmentally friendly vegetable crops using botanical insecticides and microbial antagonists; (5) water use efficiency technology with drip irrigation; (6) good sorting, grading and packing technology, 7) empowerment technology to form groups and institutional strengthening and group management. The results of this activity are: (1) the target group / members The women farmer group has a very high curiosity about new information that can improve their standard of living,(2) technology transfer activities on the use of garden with organic vegetable cultivation received positive response from the members of the Group, (3) This devotional activity can encourage the pattern of mind and pattern of member action in organic vegetable cultivation by developing rural resources and sustainable local wisdom, (4) Verikultur cultivation technique with vertical paralon type on a land area of 10 m2 is economically profitable

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the secondary metabolites of the fungi Simplicillium sp. on mortality, larval feeding capacity, larval growth, percentage of pupae and imagos, fecundity and fertility, secondary metabolites of the fungi Simplicillium sp. which effectively kills Spodoptera frugiperda. This research was conducted in the Plant Protection Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto from October 2020 until January 2021. The method used in this research was a factorial randomized block (RBD) with two factors. The first factor is the concentration of secondary metabolite of the fungi Simplicillium sp. consisting of control (K0), 10% concentration (K1), 20% concentration (K2), 30% concentration (K3); and a synthetic insecticide with an active ingredient Emmamectin benzoate and Lufenuron 1 ml/l (K4). The second factor is the application method which consists of the spraying method on the larvae (A1) and the feed immersion method (A2). The observed parameters were mortality, feeding capacity, growth time, percentage of pupae and imagos formed, fecundity and fertility, and effective concentration. The result showed that: 1) secondary metabolite of the fungi Simplicillium sp. with a concentration of 20 percent larvae spraying method caused larvae mortality by 36.67 percent and the food immersion method caused larvae mortality by 45.00 percent, and decreased feeding activity by 26.12 percent; 2) secondary metabolite of the fungi Simplicillium with a concentration of 20 percent was able to inhibit the growth of larvae by 3.83 percent, pupae by 5,40 percent and imagos by 14.19 percent, reduced the number of pupae and imagos formed by 49.17 percent and 37.33 percent, and reduced fertility at a concentration of 10 percent by 11.30 percent; 3) secondary metabolite of the fungi Simplicillium sp. has not been effectively used as a control for S. frugiperda since it has an efficacy value of less than 80 percent.

Abstract

Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith merupakan hama baru di Indonesia yang menyerang tanaman jagung. Hama tersebut bersifat polifagus yang belum diketahui secara pasti kisaran inangnya di Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui berbagai respon biologi larva Spodoptera furgiperda sebagai indikasi kesesuaian inang. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap satu faktor, yaitu jenis pakan daun yang berbeda. Setiap perlakuan diulang tiga kali sehingga terdapat 33 unit percobaan. Jenis pakan daun yang digunakan ada sepuluh (10), antara lain: alang-alang, bambu, bayam, caisin, kangkung, krokot, lelulangan, padi, seledri, tebu dan daun jagung sebagai kontrol. Setiap unit percobaan berisi pakan seberat 10 gram dengan 5 individu larva S. furgiperda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa jenis pakan daun bayam, caisin, kangkung, dan rumput lelulangan diduga dapat menjadi strain padi (R) dan sebagai inang alternatif bagi Spodoptera frugiperda.

Abstract

Air dan nutrisi merupakan kebutuhan esensial tanaman. Perkembangan saat ini, budidaya melon dilakukan secara hidropononik dengan pemberian air irgasi dan nutrisi secara bersamaan (fertigasi). Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) dan irigasi tetes merupakan dua tipe teknik fertigasi yang banyak diterapkan. Kelemahan dan kelebihan dari kedua teknik fertigasi tersebut banyak dibahas mengenai aspek keteknikannya, sedangkan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan produktivitas tanaman masih jarang diteliti terutama pada varietas tertentu. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah mengetahui pengaruh teknik fertigasi terhadap pertumbuhan dan produktivitas melon pada budidaya secara hidroponik. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 2 faktor bebas yaitu jenis teknik fertigasi (NFT dan irigasi tetes) dan varietas melon (varietas Jumbo F1 dan Golden aroma). Sedangkan variabel terikat yaitu pertumbuhan dan mutu melon (yaitu: tinggi tanaman, berat buah, diameter buah, dan kemanisan buah). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis sistem fertigasi dan varietas melon berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua variabel terikat, meskipun tinggi tanaman baru terlihat berbeda nyata ketika masuk pada 3 minggu setelah pindah tanam. Berdasarkan parameter berat, diameter, dan tingkat kemanisan buah, kombinasi perlakuan terbaik dihasilkan pada perlakukan menggunakan NFT dan varietas Golden Aroma. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu petani melon dalam memilih jenis sistem fertigasi dan varietas unggul untuk mendapatkan hasil melon terbaik

Abstract

Spodoptera frugiperda is a new pest in Indonesia that attacks corn and can cause up to 100 percent damageon young plants. As an invasive pest, information on potential indigenous natural enemies that cancontrol this pest is needed. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of indigenous entomopathogenic fungi and their application methods on mortality, feeding activity, growth, fecundity, and fertility of S. frugiperda. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized Block Design (RCBD) method consisting of 10 treatments. Treatmentstested werecombination of fungi species, namely Fusarium sp., Aspergillus oryzae, Entomophthora sp. with conidia density 109 ml-1, distilled water and cypermethrin at concentration of 1 ml.L-1 as a control. Two application techniques used were direct application on S. frugiperda larvae and diet test. Each treatment was repeated three times resulting in30 experimental units. Variables observed included mortality, feeding activity, growth, fecundity, and fertility of S. frugiperda. Results showed that the three fungi and cypermethrin treatment did not cause mortality, but reduced feeding activity, fecundity and fertility of S. frugiperda. Application of entomopathogenic fungi ondietswas more effective than directly spraying S. frugiperda larvae. The best treatment combination that suppressed feeding activity was the application of Aspergillus oryzae sprayed on S. frugiperda diet.It was also suspected that S. frugiperda larvae used in this test had developed resistance to cypermethrin.

Abstract

Melon is one of the horticultural commodities with considerable economic potential. Cultivation through hydroponic systems can provide efficiency and increase production if complemented by superior varieties. This study aims to identify the best hydroponic system and melon variety combination with the highest yield. The research was conducted from November 2023 to April 2024 at the screen house in Pasir Kulon Village, Karanglewas District, Banyumas Regency, at 110 m above sea level. The study used a split-plot factorial design with a basic design of a Completely Randomized Block Design. The first factor was the hydroponic system, consisting of S1 = Dutch bucket and S2 = drip irrigation. The second factor was the variety, consisting of V1 = Golden Aroma, V2 = Rangipo, and V3 = Sweet Net. The results showed that the best yield was found in the Dutch bucket system and the Golden Aroma variety, with a fruit flesh thickness of 3.3 cm and a total soluble solids content of 17.18 °Brix.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui tingkat pemangsaan V. lineata terhadap hama ulat grayak S. frugiperda pada larva stadia instar I, mengetahui laju pemangsaan V. lineata terhadap hama ulat grayak S. frugiperda pada larva stadia instar I, dan mengetahui tipe tanggap fungsional V. lineata terhadap hama ulat grayak S. frugiperda pada larva stadia instar I. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Oktober 2022 - Januari 2023 di Laboratorium Perlindungan Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAKL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan, yaitu 10, 15, 20, 25, dan 30 larva S. frugiperda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa jumlah mangsa yang tersedia tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata pada laju pemangsaan dan persentase mangsa yang dimangsa oleh kumbang V. lineata, namun memberikan pengaruh yang nyata pada jumlah mangsa yang dimangsa oleh kumbang V. lineata. Pemangsaan imago V. lineata pada waktu 24 jam menunjukan perbedaan yang nyata pada kepadatan 10, 15, 20, 25, dan 30 individu. Kemampuan pemangsaan imago V. lineata terhadap larva S. frugiperda instar I selama 24 jam berkisar antara 10 sampai 28 larva/24 jam. Laju pemangsaan imago V. lineata terhadap larva S. frugiperda instar I berkisar antara 4,8 sampai 10,8 larva/jam. Tanggap fungsional V. lineata adalah tipe I (linear), laju pemangsaan meningkat atau menurun seiring dengan peningkatan atau penurunan kepadatan mangsa.Kata kunci: pemangsaan, Spodoptera frugiperda, Verania lineata
