Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the teaching and learning process through an online system is one option that can deal with barriers to the teaching and learning process directly to avoid the spread of the virus. This study intends to analyze students’responses to the problems they face during the Covid-19 pandemic and how students deal with online learning during the pandemic. The background of this research is the experience of students with the problems they face during distance learning or online due to Covid-19 which requires students to follow government rules, namely doing distance learning or online. The informants or respondents in this study were several students majoring in . The data collected by the researcher was based on online interviews conducted with 15 students The data analysis used interactive analysis technique by Miles Hubberman. The researcher arranges several questions that must be asked of the participants to obtain the required information. In the online teaching and learning process during the covid-19 pandemic, various problems experienced by students are as follows, the most dominant problem when carrying out online learning is the limited internet network, especially for students who live in rural areas.

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the students’ reading comprehension achievement in narrative text through team practice technique. This research was applied by class room action research. The technique of analyzing data of this study was applied by using qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken from interview, diary notes, observation sheet and documentation. The quantitative data were taken from the best. It indicated that the work technique can improve students’ comprehension achievement in narrative text through team practice technique. It’s strengthened by the result of observation showed that most of the students in teaching learning process were active and serious in joining the lesson. They were active in discussing and they had already been brave to propose question and give the solution to the problem. Keywords: Reading Comprehensive, Narrative Texts, Team Practice Technique

Abstract

The basic age phase is a golden age for children. The Qur'an as a 'holy book' Muslims should be read, apprehended, cared for and memorized (QS.18:27). Prototype (basic concept) in memorizing it has spread in (QS. 75: 16-18). The application of (QS. 75: 16-18) can be done using the Takrir (repetitive) method. The role of parents, teachers and peers has a major impact on the process of memorizing Al Huffaz (memorization) of the Qur'an at the elementary age level. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach, with an insendental sampling technique. The subjects in this study were all of the Tahfidz / Tahfidzah Islamic Center Medan teachers who fostered elementary age children ranging from 5-9 years. Data collection is done by observation, interview and documentation. The results of this study indicate that (1) Takrir (repetitive) method as a prototype (basic concept) in memorizing the Qur'an at the basic age level in Islamic Center Medan (2) Takrir (repetitive) method is very effective to be used in forming Al Qur'an recitation at a level. primary age children in Medan Islamic Center (3) The role of parents, teachers and peers is very influential in the process of memorizing an Al Huffaz (memorizer) of the Qur'an at the basic age level at the Islamic Center Medan.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the grammar mastery of class XI students in understanding sentence material if conditional by using the metacognitive strategy learning method. Quantitative research is the type of research used and uses an experimental design. Researchers took data from MADRASAH ALIYAH YPP RIDHO ALLAH, PERLABIAN VILLAGE. The population in the school was 40 students from class XI-A and XI-B, each class has 20 students. The researcher gave a pretest before being given treatment and a posttest after treatment. Then the researcher analyzed the data using formulas and Microsoft Excel with a significance level of 0.05. Then the researchers obtained data from the study, namely the results of t count (8.55) > t table (1.69) which means Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected. The results of the study were obtained from the pretest and posttest scores of students from the experimental class and control class, where the posttest value in the experimental class was higher than the control class. It can be found that the Ha received has a significant influence on metacognitive strategies on the mastery of class XI Madrasah Alwasliyah YPP Ridho Allah students.

Abstract

Less of comprehension in reading of English text has become a problem to reach English mastery. This problem brings researchers to apply the activating schemata to solve student’s problem in MAS 22 Tembung Medan. In this research, the researcher took grade X as the population of the research. The population of the research is not too large. Then, the researchers decided to take the whole student as the sample of the research by using sampling technique. Researchers collected the data through pre-test and post-test during conducting of this research. After collecting of the data, the data is analyzed through SPSS 23.0 and tested by ANCOVA (an analysis of covariance) Finally, researcher found that activating schemata had a significant effect on student reading comprehension. It can be seen from the data resulted. The data shown that students in experimental group got score in the pre-test (70) and post-test (100). Meanwhile, students in control group got score pre-test (70) and post-test (70). Score of significance was 0.000 and it was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted. This result concluded that activating schemata can increase student reading comprehension and the use of this strategy is recommended.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan dari metode Beyond Centre and Circle Time (BCCT) pada pengajaran kosakata. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian eksperimental. Adapun populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas 7 di MTs Darul Ihsan Hamparan Perak, dan sampelnya adalah kelas VIIA sebanyak 25 orang sebagai kelas eksperimen, kelas VIIB sebanyak 25 orang sebagai kelas kontrol. Data pada tes awal di kelas kontrol adalah 61,4 dengan nilai rata-rata pada tes akhir adalah 72,5. Sementara itu, nilai rata-rata tes awal di kelas eksperimen adalah 61,0 dan nilai rata-rata tes akhir adalah 81,1. Ini menunjukkan ada perbedaan antara kelas kontrol dengan kelas eksperimen. Pada kelas kontrol nilai tes awal dan tes akhir meningkat menjadi 11,5 sementara pada kelas eksperimen nilai rata-ratanya meningkat menjadi 20,01. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima bahwa metode BCCT efektif dalam penguasaan kosakata pada siswa dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional.Abstract:  The research aimed to know effectiveness of Beyond Centre and Circle Time method in teaching students’ vocabulary mastery. This research was conducting by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the students at seven grade of MTs Darul Ihsan Hamparan Perak. The sample of this study was VII-A (25 students) as experimental class and VII-B (25 students) as control class. The pre test in control class 61,4 and mean of post test was 72,5. Meanwhile mean of pre test in experiment class was 61,0 and mean of post test was 81,1. It means that there is difference between control class and experiment class. In the control class, the score of pre test and post test raise 11,5. While, in the experimental class, the score of pre test and post test raise 20,01. Ha is accepted and H0isrejected. It means that there is better of using beyond center and circle time method on the students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery than conventional method.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana strategi yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa perguruan tinggi yang tinggal di daerah terpencil berhasil bertahan untuk mengikuti perkuliahan dengan baik. Untuk melakukan penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Salah satu teknik yang digunakan dalam metode kualitatif adalah wawancara (wawancara terpandu-virtual). Wawancara ini dilakukan untuk menggali lebih dalam informasi yang berkaitan dengan strategi pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh siswa (partisipan). Studi ini melaporkan dampak pembelajaran online, seperti koneksi internet yang tidak memadai, sarana dan prasarana yang terbatas, serta biaya yang harus dikeluarkan untuk membeli data internet yang mahal. Penelitian ini menekankan pada pentingnya mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran dan memperhatikan orang-orang yang paling dekat dengan siswa agar proses pembelajaran berjalan dengan baik dan mengatasi kendala akibat pandemi COVID-19.Abstract: This study focused on how the strategies used by students of higher education who live in remote areas successfully survive to follow the lectures well. To do this research, we use qualitative method. One of the techniques used in the qualitative method is interview (guided-virtual interview). This interview is conducted to dig deeper through information relating to the learning strategies undertaken by the students (participants). This study reports the impacts of online learning, such as inadequate internet connections, limited facilities and infrastructures, and the costs that must be paid to buy an expensive internet data. This study emphasizes the importance of developing learning strategies and having the attention of those who are closest to the students so that the learning process runs well and overcome obstacles due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study described the use of digtogloss method to improve students’ skills in writing narrative text. This study was classroom action research which consisted of planning, implementation, and reflection. The qualitative data was gathered using an observation sheet, an interview, diary notes. The quantitative data was taken from the writing test. The data in this study was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings of quantitative analysis showed that the mean of pre-test was 40.67. In cycle one, the mean of first post-test was 65.6. In cycle two, the mean of second post-test was 70.17. Based on the findings of this study, it was concluded that the application of dictogloss method improved students’ ability in writing narrative text. The finding of the qualitative analysis showed that the students were interested in writing narrative text through digtogloss method.

Abstract

Lack of vocabulary became a problem on student reading comprehension. This condition brings the writers to solve student’s problem by applying of vocabulary self-collection strategy. Several researchers conducted the effect of vocabulary self-collection in teaching language learning. The results showed that this strategy is effective to help students in language learning. Therefore, writers intrigued to apply this strategy. Vocabulary self-collection strategy is an interactive-learning instructional strategy that shows the word consciousness To implement this strategy, the writers used Classroom Action Research. It took four steps proposed by Kemmis and Taggart, Planning, action, observation and reflection. This research took 36 students in Mas Al Ulum Medan. Based on the two cycles, it can be proved that the mean score is higher in the second cycle. The mean score of first cycle was 65,7 %. Furthermore, it was categorized as the criteria of not success in test reading. If we compare to the diagnose test before, it seem the significant differences among of them. Moreover, the use of vocabulary self-collection strategy is not only increase student reading comprehension but also student’s curiosity and interesting in reading of English text. It can be seen from the observation had been done by the researcher and collaborator during the application of this strategy. They looked more active than before. The student enjoyed this strategy because it can help them in reading and memorizing of the word. Therefore, the application of this vocabulary self-collection can be recommended to improve students in reading skill. Furthermore, the result also suggest to teachers, lecturers or other educators to attempt this strategy in supporting of language learning. Because of this strategy is usable to improve student ability in English skill and student’s interest in learning English.

Abstract

Big books are learning media that can be used as learning resources by presenting of contextual and interactive images in increasing of students' literacy skills. Good literacy skills will make easy for students to understand the meaning of the information provided and they can improve their interpersonal skills well. This research is a quantitative research with a survey approach. Participants in this study are 237 students. Data collection was obtained from interviews and questionnaires, then analyzed using the percentage technique. The results of this study illustrate that using big book-based science textbooks, students' scientific literacy skills can increase. The results shows that literacy in context, knowledge, competence, and attitude are categorized good.
