Abstract

Women today must carry out their duties as housewives and must also work to help the family economy. This study aims to analyze the causes of the dual role of women in Anjir Serapat Village, and to determine the position of women who work in their families. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The research was conducted on female laborers at PT Kayu Lima Sejahtera in Anjir Serapat Tengah Village, East Kapuas District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results show that women work as laborers to help meet household needs, which has an impact on financial sufficiency and helps create household harmony. However, this does not always have a positive impact, but also has a negative impact on women because they have to feel exhausted due to having to do household chores. Family time is also reduced, which makes their children more independent and able to understand their parents' work, regardless of their young age. This research shows that the existing social construction in society about the role of a good wife only around the domestic can be broken. In the Anjir Serapat Village community, it is women who hold a more dominant public role.

Abstract

Historically, jukung has an important role for the Kuin Kacil community, and women who are commonly called acil are more dominant in using jukung than men. This study aims to describe the activities of the Kuin Kacil community who use jukung, and analyze the role of women in the preservation of jukung. This research uses a qualitative method. The research was conducted in Kuin Kacil, Mantuil Village, Banjarmasin City, from May 2022 to November 2022. Data collection techniques used observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that women in Kuin Kacil predominantly use jukung as a means of transportation, so the role of women in preserving jukung is very important. Jukung is considered more practical and in accordance with the characteristics of women who are more feminist. In addition, other transportation is considered less feasible to use in Kuin Kacil due to narrow road access. The existence of women who use jukung as a means of transportation is one of the reciprocal relationships to the existence of the jukung itself as a means of transportation. However, the existence of jukung as a means of transportation has the potential to be abandoned as the times develop. The younger generation prefers to use land transportation, such as two-wheeled vehicles. The younger generation considers jukung as an outdated and less modern (fashionable) means of transportation to be used in the present. Jukung preservation efforts are important as a cultural heritage of river communities, and as a means of transportation that is friendly to women and nature.

Abstract

The entry of women into online games that are dominated by men creates a new case where women become victims of discrimination using sexist language. This research was conducted in the Miaw Ladies community group, which is a community specifically for women in the mobile game Legends Bang Bang. This research aims to find out and provide an overview of the sexist language that is often encountered by female players in the mobile game Legends Bang Bang and wants to know how patriarchal structures are maintained through sexist language in the game. This research uses qualitative research with a Feminist Method approach. The results of the research found that there were two types of sexist language experienced by female players, namely sexist language which leads to obscenity and derogatory sexist language. Obscene sexist language found in the mobile game Legends Bang Bang equates women with sex workers, equates women with vaginas, and even insults players' parents by calling them sluts. Sexist language demeans the majority of female players as being stupid in the field of online gaming, deeming women inappropriate to play online games, and belittling women's abilities in the field of online gaming. The results found are in accordance with Luce Irigaray's opinion that language is a tool used to maintain patriarchy in society by insulting and belittling women and feeling superior in the field of gaming. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game players should be more respectful and appreciative of fellow players without discriminating against any gender.

Abstract

Child marriage is a common phenomenon in society, especially in rural communities. This research aims to analyse the social construction formed in the community that leads to the normalisation of child marriage. The research was conducted in Karang Rejo Village, Jorong Sub-district, Tanah Laut Regency. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection methods were observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that there is a social construction in the Karang Rejo Village community that supports the normalisation of child marriage. Social construction occurs through three processes: (1) externalisation, where individuals who marry at a child's age begin to introduce their identity in society; (2) objectification, when society forms a collective perception of child marriage; and (3) internalisation, when couples who marry at a child's age adjust to the positive or negative views that develop around them. Factors that support the normalisation of child marriage include the new culture, the old culture, and social conditions. In addition, it is also due to the belief that child marriage is considered to prevent undesirable situations in society. Based on these findings, it is hoped that the community will begin to think more wisely and consider the long-term impact of the adverse effects that will occur if this continues to be done.

Abstract

Tirik bamboo is one of the natural potentials of the Dayak Meratus community and is a key element in handicraft arts, especially arangan which is rich in historical value. Weaving or arangan is part of the life of the Dayak Meratus community, arangan is a patterned weaving, while the plain one is called woven. The motifs listed in arangan not only have aesthetic value, but also connotative meaning. But unfortunately, the creativity in the artistic spirit of the Meratus community has not been utilized optimally. This is due to the lack of public knowledge about the promotion and marketing of arangan products, and the reduced interest of young people to continue the heritage of arangan art can threaten the preservation of woven bamboo tirik as the identity of the local wisdom of Pembakulan Village. With this, community empowerment with the live-in method through a participatory approach was carried out, directly involving local communities and government agencies. Activities were carried out starting from conducting socialization and workshops for product innovation and promotion. Followed by a Forum Group Discussion that focused on increasing women's participation in preserving local wisdom. The policy of a Decree (SK) on the formation of a creative weaving group through the Trade Office of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency is the final result of the program. With the establishment of cooperation between basket craftsmen and the Hulu Sungai Tengah Trade Office, it can open up opportunities for wider access to product marketing, while encouraging product innovation, and improving the economic welfare of basket craftsmen.
