Abstract

The aim of the study was to develop a multimedia learning for the teaching and learning descriptive text writing at the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Sepauk called Panora-Med (Panoramic Media). The method of this research was the ADDIE (analyzing, designing, developing, implementation, and evaluation) model by Branch (2009) as the procedure to develop the multimedia. However, the researcher only implemented three phases which were analyzing, designing, and developing (ADD). The multimedia functioned well and fulfilled all of the assessment criteria. Therefore, this study showed that Panora-Med learning multimedia is usable to support the teaching and learning descriptive text writing. The designed product was completed by using PowerPoint presentation. The activity in the Panora-Med learning multimedia is in the form of descriptive text writing activity which allowed the students to increase their knowledge of descriptive text writing. In conclusion, Panora-Med learning multimedia is usable to ease the teaching and learning process of descriptive text writing.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop a Dayak Legend Storybook as supplementary materials for Ninth-year students. The basic thought underlying this study was to provide teachers and students with a Dayak legend story based on their background. The storybook was developed in five stages: analysis; design; development; implementation; and evaluation (ADDIE). The data was obtained through questionnaires, interviews, checklists, and field notes. Based on the findings, the storybook is worth utilizing due to its usefulness and the positive responses were given by the students, teacher, and validators to the contents. In conclusion, this study was successful in developing a qualified Dayak Legend Storybook as supplementary materials for Ninth year students.

Abstract

Abstract:The research was conducted based on the problems that were found in the teaching and learning process. The students faced some problems in listening to the narrative text: writing the right vocabulary based on the teacher's pronunciation, identifying important supporting details, and drawing inferences. The purpose of this research was to investigate how the Dictogloss technique improved students'listening comprehension in listening narrative text on the eleventh grade students in class XI IPS 3 of SMAN 5 Pontianak in the academic year 2017/2018. The results showed that the implementation of the dictogloss technique in this research is successful in improving students' listening comprehension in the narrative text, and the implementation of the dictogloss technique not only improves the students' listening comprehension in the narrative text but also changes the students' behavior in teaching and learning process and motivated them. To sum up, the research finding proved that the implementation of the dictogloss technique improved the students' listening comprehension in the narrative text to the eleventh grade students of SMAN 5 Pontianak in the academic year 2017/2018. Keywords: dictogloss technique, listening comprehension, narrative text.

Abstract

Pedagogical transformation in the digital age aligns with the digitalization program from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. The policy emphasizes using information technology tools such as tablets, computers, and home learning portals as operational support for performance schools. Learning enhanced through digitalization will bring about a variety of new learning methods that directly facilitate the learning process between educators and pupils. The topic of the study is the pedagogical transformation of English language teaching at junior high schools in the digital age in remote areas of Sambas. It was to describe the change of pedagogy in English language teaching using digital devices in a remote area. The research used a qualitative case study. The researcher used observation, interviews, and document analysis to collect data. The data were taken from remote schools in Paloh and Sejangkung. Based on the findings, the pedagogical transformation can be implemented with limited resources in remote schools of Sambas. Implementing pedagogical transformation in English language teaching gives benefits and challenges. It helps the students and the teachers in teaching and learning activities. However, no electricity line, limited internet access, and limited digital devices become the challenges for educational providers in remote areas.
