Abstract

The waiting time for pharmaceutical services is an important indicator in assessing the quality of health services, including at Tk II Udayana Hospital, Denpasar Bali. Although the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (RME) has been implemented to improve efficiency, outpatients still often face quite long wait times. This study aims to analyze factors such as prescription type, destination poly, gender, and visit time that affect the waiting time of pharmaceutical services at the hospital's Pharmacy Installation. This study uses an observational analytical approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 205 outpatient data taken by Simple Random Sampling in June 2024. The collected data was then analyzed using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between independent and dependent variables. The results of the analysis showed that the type of prescription had a significant relationship with the waiting time for pharmaceutical services (p=0.001). Patients who received a concocted prescription experienced a longer wait time than patients who received a non-concocted prescription. However, other variables such as gender (p=0.099), visit time (p=0.091), and destination poly (p=0.084) did not show a significant relationship with waiting time. From the results of the study, the type of prescription proved to be the most influential factor on the waiting time for pharmaceutical services at Tk II Udayana Hospital. Therefore, efforts are needed to optimize the RME system and improve resource management, especially in handling concocted prescriptions, to reduce waiting times and increase patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Patient waiting time is the length of time it takes for patients to obtain health services from registration to entering the doctor's examination room. This study aims to identify the factors that affect the waiting time of outpatients at Lawang Malang Hospital. Using a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, the study involved 95 respondents from internal polyclinic patients who were selected through non-probability sampling techniques. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. The results showed that most patients experienced a waiting time of more than 60 minutes, exceeding the Minimum Service Standard (SPM). Of the variables studied, only residence had a significant relationship with waiting time (p-value = 0.0001, AOR = 1.93; 95% CI, 1.16-3.21). Other variables such as education, employment, visit days, and registration methods did not show a significant relationship. The conclusion of this study is that the majority of patients wait more than 60 minutes, and the place of residence has an effect on the waiting time. To remedy this situation, it is recommended that hospitals develop an online registration application that is integrated with doctors' schedules to reduce patient waiting times.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Advancing age is often accompanied by physical decline in the elderly, including impaired balance. One of the most serious consequences of this impairment is the risk of falling. Diabetes mellitus is suspected to be a contributing factor to postural imbalance in older adults. Objective: This study aims to analyze postural balance among elderly individuals with diabetes mellitus at the Geriatric Polyclinic, Level II Udayana Hospital.Method: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and involved 94 elderly patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus at the Geriatric Polyclinic of Level II Udayana Hospital, Denpasar. Data were collected through direct observation using the Berg Balance Scale to assess postural balance. Descriptive univariate analysis was used for data interpretation. Results: Demographically, 68 respondents (72.34%) were aged 60–74, 54 (57.45%) were male, and 38 (40.42%) had completed senior high school. A majority, 62 respondents (65.96%), had lived with diabetes for more than five years. In terms of balance, 60 respondents (63.83%) were classified as independent, while 32 (34.04%) required walking assistance. The mean Berg Balance Scale score was 31.3, indicating the need for walking assistance. Conclusion: Elderly individuals with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of postural imbalance due to aging and disease-related factors. These findings highlight the importance of early detection and may inform the development of targeted fall-prevention interventions for this population. Keywords: Elderly; Postural Balance; Diabetes Mellitus; Postural Imbalance; Berg Balance Scale.

Abstract

Puskesmas as the vanguard of health services in Indonesia face complex human resource (HR) challenges, including quantity, quality, and distribution. Suboptimal human resource planning is one of the factors that cause the inadequacy of health human resources. Training and development of employees at the Puskesmas is crucial to increase the competence and potential of individuals as valuable assets of the organization. This community service activity aims to improve the quality of human resource management at the Puskesmas Kuta Utara, involving 25 participants. The methods used include pre-test, providing material on workload calculation and HR management, simulating the use of WSN software, training sessions with case studies from participating health centers, and interactive discussions. The evaluation was carried out through a post-test with the same questions as the pre-test to measure the improvement of participants' understanding. The results of the activity are expected to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of human resource management and the effectiveness of health services at the Puskesmas Kuta Utara.

Abstract

Mental-emotional disorder in older adults may arise as a result of stress that is not adequately managed. This study analyzes the correlation between stress and mental-emotional disorders in older people at the Geriatric Polyclinic of Udayana Level II Hospital, Denpasar. It used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 337 older adult patients receiving treatment at the Geriatric Polyclinic of Udayana Level II Hospital, with a sample size of 183 individuals. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) was an instrument to measure stress, and the Self Rating Questionnaire (SRQ-20) for mental-emotional disorders. The univariate analysis described the characteristics of the respondents, and the bivariate analysis evaluated the correlation between both variables using Spearman's rank correlation. Almost half of the respondents were 65-74 years old, 78 respondents (42.6%). Half of them were female, 99 respondents (54%). In addition, 62 or 33.88% of respondents graduated from a Senior High School. Most respondents experienced a moderate stress level of 134 respondents (88.5%) and mental-emotional disorders of 158 respondents (86.3%). Most respondents with moderate stress levels experienced mental-emotional disorder (66.12%). The Spearman's Rank Correlation obtained p=0.036 (p<0.05), indicating a significant correlation between stress levels and mental-emotional disorder in older people. Stress levels correlate with mental and emotional disorders in older people at the Geriatric Polyclinic of Udayana Level II Hospital, Denpasar. Efforts to recognize stress early, especially in older adults, are essential.
