Abstract

A magnesium oxide and titanium (II) oxide nanocomposite, MgO/TiO2 was synthesized to improve its surface area thus its adsorption capability may be risen. The synthesis was applying sol-gel method, combining MgO and TiO2 nanoparticles with NaOH becomes a nanocomposite with higher surface area. The pH effect on adsorption were analyzed. The expectation of using MgO/TiO2 compared with TiO2 and MgO alone is it may react faster on an adsorption trial with remazol turquoise blue dye, and the TiO2 may give its photocatalysis ability to the synthesized material. Less acid the condition of the solution, the capability of the MgO/TiO2 catalyst on adsorbing the remazol turquoise blue dye will increasing. After 90 minutes, the photocatalysis rate surpass the adsorption rate and reach equilibrium.

Abstract

The expectation of using MgO/TiO2 compared with TiO2 and MgO alone is it may react faster on an adsorption trial with remazol turquoise blue dye, and the TiO2 may give its photocatalysis ability to the synthesized material. The FTIR analysis results show that the MgO and TiO2 are successfully combined become MgO/TiO2 nanocomposite. On adsorbing remazol blue, MgO/TiO2’s surface is chemically influenced by the dye’s C=O and amides group.

Abstract

Planktons represent aquatic organisms that float in the water with relatively passive movement. In ecological function, the distribution of biomass and the species composition of plankton have essential effects on the primary and initial producers of chains in food webs. To preserve nature and biota in the estuary area, monitoring plankton as a bioindicator is necessary. This research aims to study the abundance and diversity of planktons as a bioindicator in the Klumpang beach estuarine region of Labuan Bajo, NTT province, Indonesia. In addition, it also examines the quality of the waters and the level of water pollution based on the diversity index and dominance index. Klumpang beach shoreline has a medium diversity index, adequate productivity level, balanced ecosystem, and medium ecological pressure. The three sampling points have a Shannon-Wiener diversity index of 2.122, 1.509, and 2.296 by sequence. Calothrix sp. becomes the most abundant phytoplankton can be found in all examined sampling points, which indicates a good productivity level and warm temperature of the water. However, the species' unbalanced distribution may indicate an unstable ecosystem in the shoreline, as the impact of surrounding activities.

Abstract

Tofu industry produces the waste that contains a lot of organic substances. The waste is discharged into the environment without any treatment process, it will cause the environmental pollution. In Indonesia, tofu industries (the small-scale industry) mostly do not treat their waste due to the problem of the high cost treatment process. The purpose of this research is to know the effective and economically reasonable that can be used by tofu producers to process tofu waste, especially liquid waste so not damage the environment. Water treatment process using bacterial from waste water as medium seems promising to develop since it does need any bacteria starter or other media like glucose. The other reason is wastewater from food processing is more suitable for microorganism cultivation because its effluent contains significant beneficial nutrient and less of toxic compounds and harmful substances that interface with the growth of microorganism in same condition (pH and Temperature) in Acclimatization process can reach 83.2% after 7 days of treatment. After the detention time (18 hours) the results of COD number also greatly decrease with 2.5 hours recirculation at 12 L/min air and pH 3.7 and 4.5 it can reach 85% and 86% of removal COD.

Abstract

The local government of Pulang Pisau, Central Kalimantan plans to build a municipal solid waste landfill located in Gohong Village, Kahayan Hilir District. The Gohong landfill is planned to be built with a sanitary landfill system located in Gohong Village, Kahayan Hilir District, Pulang Pisau Regency with an area of 64,260 m2. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct an initial environmental study of the initial environmental components before planning and development begin, to then be managed and monitored during the activity. This study uses two types of data, which are secondary data and primary data. Secondary data includes topographic data and rainfall at the construction site, while the primary data used is groundwater and river quality, and water biota analysis. The results of the study on the development plan for the Gohong landfill show that this area has a medium category of rainfall. The soil types at the site of the development plan are podsol and alluvial soil types. The quality of river water around the planned development site is class 4 water type with good groundwater quality and has diverse biological components with healthy ecosystems.

Abstract

A community service program was held in Surakarta city, in a boarding school named Kanzus Sholawat to solve the cooking oil waste problem. The used oil which locally is alluded to jelantah oil, blackish brown colored, contains exceptionally high levels of cholesterol, carcinogen, and it may cause harm for human wellbeing. Jelantah oil ordinarily will be directly thrown to the environment, hence may cause water and soil contamination. Agreeing to this, it is essential to teach individuals to do minimization and reuse to the utilized oil (jelantah). Besides, the individuals will be prepared to commercialize the items as a souvenir gift item. The jelantah oil will be processed into handwash cleanser products with a feasible, simple, and cheap procedure and utilizing effortlessly obtained material. To start, a 500 ml of used cooking oil is filtered and mixed with 160 grams of NaOH flakes soluted in 200 ml of water. Some drops of fragrance is added to make the soap perfumed. The purpose of this community service is to provide assistance to the Kanzus Sholawat Surakarta Foundation to take the economic value from the oil waste by commercializing the recycle product. The program will be carried out by training and education to handle the jelantah oil into handwash cleanser, and persistent assessment to make sure the Kanzus Sholawat Surakarta students and adjacent community get the optimal benefits. Pre-order sale system using e-commerce is also expected to be implemented by the students, to make this program sustainable.

Abstract

The midsole is an inseparable component of the shoe. For this reason, midsole production must be fulfilled so that the needs of shoe manufacturers to produce shoes can be met according to the target. Midsole Jepara factory is one of the work units of PT. X is a company that processes Compound raw materials into Midsole as its main product. ISO 9001:2008 is an international standard for quality management systems. ISO 9001:2008 establishes requirements and recommendations for the design and assessment of a quality management system. It is expected that the products produced from an international quality management system, will be of good quality (standard). Based on this, this study will discuss the quality assurance contained in a manufacturing company to prevent the absence of things that cause product defects. In analyzing the implementation of ISO 9001:2008 used is the analysis of P control maps, fishbone diagrams, and Pareto diagrams. In controlling the midsole products it produces, PT X applies a policy regarding product quality standards, namely using the PDCA (Plan Do Check Action) quality standard.

Abstract

XYZ Village is an industrial village that produces woven fabrics. Failure in the production process is something that must be traced to the cause so that it can be used as a basis for improving product quality. Total Quality Management (TQM) is an approach to running a business that tries to maximize the competitiveness of an organization through continuous improvement of products, services, people, processes, and the environment. This study was conducted to identify potential causes of failure and improve the quality of woven fabrics in the weaving process in XYZ Village with the TQM method approach. Based on the calculations that have been done, it was found that there are two valid variables and two other invalid variables because the value of r-count > r-table, namely the variable color is less bright and the color is mixed. Then the main factors that cause the quality of woven fabrics to decrease and result in production failures on woven fabrics are inappropriate battens and also color spots on woven fabrics.

Abstract

Sounds that are not desired by the listener, where the sound can distract, interfere with activities, or cause danger during daily activities, can be called noise. Noise at a certain level originating from the sound of work tools in the production process can cause comfort and health to be disturbed. The lousy impact that often occurs if a person is exposed to noise for too long is the effect on hearing, which can cause deafness, but this can be controlled by using hearing protection equipment that will determine the amount of compensation value to be received by the surrounding community. The existence of the Landfill, which is often located in the middle of community settlements, has a direct impact, one of which is noise during every working hour of the Landfill's operations. One example of a Landfill that is still active today is the Klotok Landfill which is located in Pojok District, Kediri City. In this research, noise mapping was carried out to determine the pattern of noise distribution that occurs in the work environment. Making a noise contour map due to these activities will use a software called Surfer, which is a simple program to generate noise curves (noise contours) spatially the location of potentially hazardous areas. The result shows that activities at the Klotok Landfill have noise values ??ranging from 40 to 92 dB. The highest noise is in the location around landfill area 3, which is actively operating. The high noise level also can be found in the weighbridge, which is a place for transporting vehicles to pass. Evaluations at points 17, 18, and 19 indicated the need for protective wear, such as earmuffs or setting a break every 1.4, 3.6, and 2.2 hours for area workers.

Abstract

Landfill management in Indonesia is mostly operated by open dumping as well as the Klotok’s Landfill at Klotok Village, Kediri City. This landfill has three lands, and the third landfill is currently actively operating. The pollution is like the occurrence of leaks in leachate storage tanks which is near the Klotok river. That situation can make the leachate enter the river and affect the physicochemical conditions of the water which have an impact on decreasing the diversity and abundance of plankton. The diversity of plankton species in aquatic ecosystems is often used as an indicator to determine the primary productivity of waters and the condition of the aquatic ecosystem, so this research was carried out to determine the diversity of plankton species in the Klotok river, so the quality of the water can be known. This research was conducted in the Klotok River, Kediri City, East Java. Samples were taken upstream of the Klotok River, near the leachate treatment Plant, and downstream of the Klotok River. Samples were taken as much as 21 liters by pouring method. The samples are poured into plankton nets. The result shows that plankton diversity in the water body near Klotok landfill is between 0,49 to 0,67, which indicates that the diversity index according to Shannon-Wiener is 0,49 where the species diversity is low, the number of individual species is low, the ecosystem is unstable, and the waters are degraded.
