Abstract

The rapid development of industry in the modern era has resulted in increasingly fierce competition between manufacturing and service companies, encouraging companies to compete to provide superiority to consumers. A warehouse is one part that has a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of production activities. The purpose of the warehouse in this research object is as a place to receive raw materials, WIP (Work In Process) and finished goods from manufacturers, maintain stock accuracy based on planning, maintain good quality and control stock properly for export. The object observed is warehousing management in Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Non-VMI warehouses. The problem that occurs is that the material is not placed in its place due to the addition of several new models. The results of the observations were analyzed using a tree diagram. Analysis of the root causes of the problem using a tree diagram obtained four main factors causing the problem, namely humans, SOPs, materials and the environment. The root causes of the four factors are the lack of communication and information between staff, the staff having multiple jobs, so the focus is divided, the flow of goods in and out does not follow the FIFO rules, the absence of temporary storage areas, not an optimal use of the warehouse and the addition of new models, causing the need for there is an improvement in the layout of the Non-VMI warehouse.

Abstract

Ulee Lheue Beach is one of the marine tourism sites in Banda Aceh. Its appearance, apart from attracting visitors to enjoy the beauty of the shore, also has consequences for piles of garbage thrown carelessly by the visitors to the shoreline which has an impact on environmental damage. In addition, the visitors tend to heed the government’s appeal to strictly commit to health protocols such as social distancing, gathering prohibition, and wearing masks while they visit the tourism spots. Therefore, this community outreach sought to map the knowledge of the tourists about waste and its impact on tourism sites and its relation to the dangers of Covid-19. This service employed mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative). The survey results showed that the visitors have fairly good knowledge regarding the dangers of waste and Covid-19 yet still uninternalized in their daily attitudes. Thus, the service team provides education through leaflets and videos on Youtube channels, hoping that the visitors would have higher commitment towards the environmental hygiene and health protocols at tourist sites.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Deah Raya is a coastal village rich in marine potential, particularly with the abundance of skipjack and tuna as the main raw material for the production of wooden fish or commonly referred to as keumamah. Several issues leading to insufficiently satisfying production process of keumamah including the fact that the villagers managed the business individually and the product was not well packaged. In addition, the waste from fish processing results in complaints from the neighbouring community. The aim of this services is knowledge and skill transfer related to the implementation of the economy circular as an alternative to overcome these problems. The results of this service activity are that two production groups have been formed from a total of 20 female participants who represent four hamlets in Deah Raya Village. The service team also provided education and conducted workshops related to the concepts of circular economy and how to manage waste from fish processing. After the workshop, the production groups managed the supply of raw materials to become more stable, mitigated production risks, and packaged the product in order to extend the product shelf life. They also started to process the waste into compost and are expected to sustain the efforts until it has commercial value and at the same time reduce the adverse impact on the environment.ABSTRAKDesa Deah Raya merupakan desa pesisir yang kaya akan potensi laut, terutama dengan melimpahnya ikan cakalang dan ikan tongkol sebagai bahan baku utama produksi ikan kayu atau yang lazim disebut dengan keumamah.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company engaged in the processing of palm oil into Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel Oil (PKO), operating in Berau, East Kalimantan. During the production process, there are efficiency-related issues. Therefore, this study aims to improve the efficiency of palm oil production by identifying value streams and waste using the Waste Assessment Model (WAM). The goal is to determine the most dominant waste type during CPO production and analyze the production process in detail using Value Stream Mapping (VSM). The VSM results reveal six workstations with a total of 15 operators, a lead time of 314 minutes, and value-added time of 174 minutes, resulting in a Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) of 55,41% by applying the WAM method, waiting time emerges as the most dominant waste, accounting for 23,43%. Factors contributing to this waste include operator skill gaps, communication issues, and unexpected absences. Based on Process Activity Mapping (PAM), operational activities constitute the largest percentage (61,60%), with a value-added activity rate of 73.42%. Proposed improvements involve eliminating non-value-added activities, reducing the total lead time to 237 minutes, and increasing the PCE to 73.41%. These enhancements include implementing the 5S concept to minimize waste and enhance efficiency.
