Abstract

With the increasing complexity of the process industry, having excellent maintenance management is essential for manufacturing industries. Various parts that interact and interdependent with each other make a well-planned maintenance strategy is one of the major challenges facing by industry. The whole system could be interrupted just simply because of the failure of a component.  Therefore, a review of a maintenance strategy must be done from a system perspective. It is suggested that the optimal preventive maintenance time interval is not only determined by the lowest maintenance cost of each machine but also its impact on the whole system. Two main indicators that can accommodate the system perspective are reliability and revenue. A large number of machines and the array of machines can be synthesized in the reliability indicator. Moreover,  the creation of maximum revenue is always the main goal for a business. The best maintenance strategy will be determined from the revenue obtained by a process industry. The process industry discussed in this study is a flour mill which is very well known in Surabaya. This study applied a hybrid simulation to solve this problem. Monte Carlo simulation was used to observe the machine individually and the results are reviewed using the application of System Dynamics. Three improvement scenarios were proposed in this simulation study. Scenario 2 was chosen as the best scenario because it was able to generate the highest revenue at the end of the period. Scenario 2 recommends setting the preventive maintenance time interval considering resource availability.

Abstract

AbstractMost of the dairy products sold in the market in Indonesia are animal milk but those products cannot be consumed by people with lactose intolerance and allergies. Plant-based milk is an alternative substitute for animal milk, and the most widely known is soy milk, but the production of soybeans in Indonesia is low. Jack beans (Canavalia ensiformis) are an alternative raw material substitute for plant-based milk. Meanwhile, the protein content of jack beans is similar to soybeans, but it is not popular as a food ingredient. This study aims to obtain the acceptable combination factors in processing jack bean milk. A full factorial design experiment was conducted to analyze the effect of temperature and heating duration on the specific gravity of jack bean milk and its organoleptic properties such as color, aroma, taste, and texture. The results showed that the temperature and heating time influenced the specific gravity and organoleptic properties of jack bean milk. In addition, the best combination of factors and levels is at a heating temperature of 100 °C for 20 minutes, which results in the specific gravity of jack bean milk, which is 1.0758.Keywords: design of experiments, jack beans, plant-based milk AbstrakSebagian besar produk susu yang dijual di pasaran di Indonesia adalah susu hewani, tetapi produk tersebut tidak dapat dikonsumsi oleh penderita intoleransi laktosa dan alergi. Abstract

Abstract

Numerous Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) do not have a basic method in pricing decisions. Many times, this decision comes up based on an intuitive probe instead of a detailed analysis. This could lead to marketing problems, which may result in disruptions of financial liquidity. This also applies to SMEs wishing to sell products through the online channel. They need a proper pricing strategy, considering its different marketing strategies. Sales made through both offline channels (conventional stores) and online channels are known as Dual-Channel Supply Chain (DCSC). It is argued that the pricing decision at DCSC needs to consider consumer preferences in selecting the sales channel. One assumption commonly adopted in the DCSC pricing model is that the lost value if consumers purchase products through online channels. Therefore, the pricing decision for the online channel should be cheaper than the price on the offline channel. This study aims to assist SMEs in the ex-localization of Dolly in Surabaya in determining the price of products to be sold through online channels. Three types of products: batik, chips, and leather shoes were selected as research samples to represent the product groups: craft, fashion, and processed food. This study proposes an optimal online price strategy through experiments with a mathematical model. Model parameters, namely consumer preferences in choosing sales channels, are obtained through surveys. Apart from that, surveys are also used to reveal which platforms consumers are interested in shopping online. Shopee and Instagram were chosen by respondents as the most popular marketplaces and social media for online shopping. Finally, the online prices proposed for the batik product are IDR 82,500-IDR 66,000; chips Rp7,620-Rp6,336; and leather shoes Rp.103,800-Rp82,200.

Abstract

Organic food is the product of organic farming. Organic farming is an agricultural cultivation technique that uses natural (local) materials that emphasizes the protection of biotic and abiotic properties in the environment. The organic farming methods apply the principle of zero chemical synthetic, that is, without the use of artificial chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides. The organic farming aims to provide food and agricultural products that are safe for public health and do not damage the environment. The challenges faced in developing organic agriculture are low productivity, distribution of production results, the number and expertise of human labor, the presence of plant-disturbing organisms, and the lack of public understanding of organic food. This Community Service aims to increase understanding and awareness of the importance of organic farming. In addition, the material also includes the supply chain of organic foods. The evaluation survey shows that 43% participant agree that the program is useful to increase their understanding about organic farming. The average participant satisfaction toward the program execution is 3,4 out of 4 scale. The participants are Orang Muda Katolik (OMK) from Paroki St. Vincentius A Paulo Kediri, St. Yosef Kediri and St. Markus Pare Keuskupan Surabaya.

Abstract

Supplier selection is an important stage in the procurement of goods and services. The suitable suppliers will streamline the company's business processes to increase profits for the company. Product packaging is one of the vital components of the overall representation of a product. Many industries leave packaging matters to others to focus on their area of specialization. Thus, the selection of packaging suppliers has become one of the critical issues in the industrial world. This study aims to develop a packaging supplier selection model in the shoe industry. The primary packaging for shoes is a shoe box made of cardboard. In developing the packaging supplier selection model, it is necessary to determine the relevant criteria and sub-criteria to support the entire supplier selection process. The integration of the Decision-Making Laboratory and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL), Analytic Network Process (ANP), and Weighted Zero-One Goal Programming (WZOGP) were used in this study to produce a suitable supplier selection model. In the initial step, five criteria and 12 sub-criteria were determined from the literature study and brainstorming with the procurement department. Furthermore, the DEMATEL method supports the development of a model of the relationship between criteria, sub-criteria, and alternatives required in the ANP procedure. Then, the ANP method synergistically assigns weights to each criterion, sub-criteria, and alternative. The weights from the results of the ANP method are used as parameters for the WZOGP optimization model. In this study, quality (28.1%) was ranked as the highest criterion, and shoe box prints that matched the specifications (12.3%) became the sub-criteria with the highest ranking. The selection of the best suppliers using the ANP method sequentially is supplier B (62.22%), supplier A (20.41%), and supplier C (17.38%). The results of the WZOGP optimization model confirm the results of the ANP by setting supplier B as the leading supplier

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company that produces hot rolled coils (HRC) steel products. One of the machines used in the process is a rough mill machine in the milling process. The problem is downtime on the rough mill machine that disrupts the production process time. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of the effectiveness of the machine, find the largest losses that affect the value of the effectiveness of the machine, identify the cause of the biggest losses and provide recommendations for improvement steps. The methods used are overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), six big losses, and the failure mode effect and criticality analysis (FMECA). The results show that the average OEE value of PT XYZ is 80%, but this value was still not following the ideal standard. By identifying the six big losses, the most significant losses are reduced speed losses, with a total percentage value of 86% and an average time loss of 5,020 minutes. FMECA results obtain three components that cause the biggest losses: the engine motor, gearbox, and spindle. Recommendations for improvement include making and setting schedules, implementing predictive maintenance and preventive maintenance on rough mill machines, and regularly checking and replacing component spare parts.

Abstract

Increasingly fierce business competition requires companies to be able to meet customer desires on time, in the right amount and in the right quality. FMCG XXX Company is a skin care product manufacturing company that focuses on production activities. Therefore, the company transfers product distribution activities to customers (distributors) to Logistics Service Providers (LSP). FMCG XXX hold consumer’s satisfaction in the highest regard. Along with the increasing number of activities being diverted, FMCG XXX companies aim to evaluate LSP performance through appropriate indicators. The indicators evaluated in this study adopt dimensions in Physical Distribution Service Quality (PDSQ) which consist of three dimensions, namely timeliness, availability and condition. Based on the results of the study, 13 indicators were obtained that FMCG XXX Company used to evaluate LSP performance. In general, around 69% of LSP's actual performance has been able to meet the targets set by the company, where two indicators are able to exceed the target and seven indicators are in accordance with the target. However, the company still has to focus on four indicators that have negative deviations because the actual performance value is less than the target set by the company. Negative indicators come from the availability and condition dimensions. The company coordinates with LSP to design improvement projects in order to improve actual performance according to the company's targets.
