Abstract

This research is a qualitative study with an emphasis on ethnography. It aims to show why ethnoscience is so important in science learning in South Papua. This research was conducted in Malind villages, primary schools in Merauke Regency. The research method used was descriptive survey with data collection tools through observation, interviews, participation, documentation, and cultural literature of the Malind Tribe. In this research, the researcher acts as a human instrument (main instrument) who observes and explores directly the objects observed. The results showed: firstly, ethno-science in the indigenous culture of the Malind tribe can be found in cultural activities and daily life such as hunting, fishing, musical instruments, traditional ceremonies, food processing, determining tides, and eating betel nut. Secondly, the lack of teacher innovation in teaching science at school, science learning content has not contextually linked science learning with the cultural activities of the Malind tribe. The importance of ethnoscience in science learning is that the traditional science of the Malind tribe in Merauke can be integrated into science learning to instil the value of nationalism through strengthening local wisdom. By converting traditional science into scientific science, students can experience a contextualised and meaningful learning experience. Cultural elements become learning resources that are developed into tools and curriculum to improve students' science literacy, learning outcomes, and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Optimizing profit in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) poses a common challenge for owners, particularly in the culinary sector. This study explores the potential application of the simplex method to maximize profits in "Martabak Pak Amir," a Martabak business. Utilizing POM-QM software, the research identifies key variables influencing Martabak business profits, including production costs, selling prices, production time, and profits from three Martabak variants. The simplex method, a linear programming problem-solving approach, iteratively develops solutions to achieve optimal outcomes. Data collected from observations and interviews with Martabak Pak Amir over a two-week period are utilized. The enterprise offers three Martabak variants: chocolate, pandan, and cheese. Through linear programming and simplex method analysis, the optimal calculation reveals that producing the pandan variant three times yields a maximum profit of Rp 8,100,000 monthly, with total monthly sales of Rp 4,764,000 or 397 portions of pandan Martabak sold per month.

Abstract

The main problem in learning mathematics in elementary schools is the weak learning process caused by ineffective teaching methods, teachers tend to use conventional approaches that make it difficult for students to understand the material, resulting in low student learning outcomes. In this context, numeracy skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, are very important because they are closely related to daily activities. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics multiplication material by using Numbers Satay Props for class II students of Wasur 2 Merauke State Elementary School in the 2022/2023 academic year, totaling 20 students. The design of this class action research includes: 1) planning 2) implementation 3) observation 4) reflection. This research took place in two cycles, each cycle had three meetings. The data collection methods in this study are: 1) test 2) observation 3) documentation. The results of this study indicate that the use of Numbers skewers media improves the learning process of math multiplication material. This is evidenced by the increase in student learning outcomes in counting. In the pre-cycle the number of students who completed as many as 11 students (55%). In cycle I the number of students who completed as many as 15 students (75%). In cycle II the number of students who were complete was 20 students (100%).

Abstract

Slum management actually needs to be carried out not only in slum areas that are part of metropolitan cities or big cities, but also in slums in the smallest part of cities. The handling of slums in large cities and small towns becomes strategic when these areas have a direct influence on parts of the metropolitan city such as the metropolitan city center area, the regional growth center of the metropolis, trade, warehousing, and other offices and industrial areas. In addition to having a direct relationship, it is suspected that slums in the buffer area have difficulty in dealing with slums in the metropolitan city. For this reason, it is necessary to identify the location of slums in the buffer area. Identification of targets from the location of the emphasis slum in the interior of the metropolitan city in the buffer zone, namely Tamamagung Village. The purpose of this study is to analyze the problem of slums and improve the quality of urban settlements which can determine what needs to be considered in designing an environment or even a city to avoid slum areas and then arrange the residential area to be better. The research method used is to use literature and surveys, which produce data then the data will be analyzed and several analysis suggestions will be obtained. The expected result is to be able to design the arrangement of slum areas based on data, analysis and considerations in designing, especially in Tamamaung Village, Makassar City which is the main case study.
