Abstract

Requirements for entry into primary school are not only based on the age limit of the child, but also on reading requirements. Besides that, the lack of interesting image visualization media makes it seem monotonous and boring for children. The purpose of this dedication to the community is to provide knowledge for teachers and parents at Ilman Nafi' tutoring in Kudus Regency regarding strategies to assist and stimulate early childhood reading. Calistung stands for reading, writing and calculating, these three are basic abilities that a person must possess in order to learn other things more easily. The method of counseling activities starts from event preparation, pre-test before giving material, giving material through power point slides, post-test evaluation, and closing. The instrument in providing material is power point, to carry out the pre-test and post-test using a questionnaire. The output to be achieved is that the teacher and parents make the Cergam (Cerita Bergambar) media and practice and apply it so that they can increase children's interest in reading. The PkM gap analysis is to minimize the need for Calistung through fun reading strategies with Cergam media. The results of the service obtained a pre-test score of 15% and an increase in the post-test score to 100%, the increase in scores from before and after giving the material shows that the counseling has succeeded in increasing knowledge for teachers and parents of Ilman Nafi's tutoring. Abstrak Persyaratan untuk masuk ke sekolah dasar tidak hanya didasarkan pada batas usia anak, tetapi juga pada persyaratan membaca. Selain itu kurangnya media visualisasi gambar yang menarik sehingga terkesan monoton dan membosankan bagi anak. Tujuan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini untuk memberikan pengetahuan bagi guru dan orang tua di bimbingan belajar Ilman Nafi’ Kabupaten Kudus mengenai strategi mendampingi dan menstimulasi membaca anak usia dini. Calistung adalah singkatan dari membaca, menulis, dan menghitung, ketiganya merupakan kemampuan dasar yang harus dimiliki seseorang agar dapat mempelajari hal lain dengan lebih mudah. Metode kegiatan penyuluhan mulai dari persiapan acara, pre-test sebelum pemberian materi, pemberian materi melalui slide power point, post-test evaluasi, dan penutupan. Instrumen dalam memberikan materi adalah power point, untuk melakuakan pre-test dan post-test menggunakan angket. Luaran yang ingin dicapai adalah guru dan orang tua membuat media Cergam (Cerita Bergambar) serta mempraktikkan dan menerapkan melalui media Cergam sehingga dapat meningkatkan minat membaca anak. Gap analysis PkM yaitu meminimalisir kebutuhan Calistung melalui strategi membaca menyenangkan berbantu media Cergam. Hasil pengabdian diperoleh nilai pre-test sejumlah 15% dan meningkat pada nilai post-test menjadi 100%, kenaikan nilai dari sebelum dan sesudah pemberian materi menunjukkan bahwa pemberian penyuluhan berhasil menambah pengetahuan bagi guru dan orang tua bimbingan belajar Ilman Nafi’.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate children's cognitive, affective, and motor development through creativity of finger painting art. The stimulation of these three aspects of Bloom's taxonomy teaches children to recognize colors and to apply cognitively, teaches children to practice patience affectively, and teaches children to use their fingertips to stimulate their motor development through finger muscles. This study used a qualitative method with a case study design to 25 early childhood students aged 5-7 years old at TK Pertiwi Bacin Kudus. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. According to Permendikbud about National Standards for Early Childhood Education, the assessment criteria used are underdeveloped (UD), beginning to develop (BD), very well developed (VD), and develop as expected (DE). The data observed indicates BD before students got finger painting activities. The results of the study obtained 3 aspects based on Bloom’s taxonomy. From those aspects of development, the highest percentage of cognitive aspect was 72% in BD. The result illustrated that 18 children began to mention colors. The highest aspect of affective was 64% in BD. It indicates that 16 children ask for help to the process and technique of finger paintings. They ran to go through the process and steps to DE. The highest aspect of psychomotor was 60%. It describes that 15 children began to develop when they smeared colors unclearly bright to form object.

Abstract

Bahasa memiliki peran penting dalam komunikasi. Artikel ini menyelami ranah wacana sinematik dengan melakukan analisis pragmatis presuposisi dari film animasi "Luca". Dengan mengacu pada prinsip-prinsip pragmatika, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dan menguji presuposisi yang terkandung dalam dialog dan interaksi karakter, memberikan pemahaman tentang asumsi implisit yang membentuk narasi. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana presuposisi berkontribusi pada pemahaman penonton tentang karakter, dinamika plot, dan elemen tematik dalam film tersebut. Analisis juga mempertimbangkan nuansa budaya dan kontekstual yang dapat memengaruhi interpretasi presuposisi dalam konteks sinematik. Melalui eksplorasi ini, ditemukan total 177 data jenis presuposisi. Diantaranya, presuposisi faktif menyumbang 74 data (42%), sedangkan presuposisi struktural mencakup 49 data (28%). Presuposisi eksistensial ditemukan dalam 33 data (19%), diikuti oleh presuposisi non-faktif dengan 14 data (8%). Selain itu, presuposisi leksikal diamati dalam 4 data (2%), dan presuposisi kontrafaktual merupakan 3 data sisanya (1%). Presuposisi faktif sering muncul dalam film ini karena seringnya narasi film bergantung pada kebenaran yang sudah jelas dan asumsi-asumsi dalam ceritanya.  Language plays a crucial role in communication. This article delves into the realm of cinematic discourse by undertaking a pragmatic presupposition analysis of the animated film "Luca." Drawing on the principles of pragmatics, this study aims to uncover and examine the underlying presuppositions embedded within the characters' dialogues and interactions, shedding light on the implicit assumptions that shape the narrative. By employing a qualitative approach, the research explores how presuppositions contribute to the audience's understanding of the characters, plot dynamics, and thematic elements in the film. The analysis also considers the cultural and contextual nuances that may influence the interpretation of presuppositions in the cinematic context. Through this exploration, a total of 177 data types of presuppositions were identified. Among these, factive presuppositions accounted for 74 data (42%), while structural presuppositions comprised 49 data (28%). Existential presuppositions were found in 33 data (19%), followed by non-factive presuppositions in 14 data (8%). Additionally, lexical presuppositions were observed in 4 data (2%), and counter-factual presuppositions constituted the remaining 3 data (1%). The most used type of presupposition found in this movie is factive presupposition as evidenced by the frequent reliance on established truths and assumptions within the narrative of this film.

Abstract

Abstract This study focuses on analyzing the expressive speech act used as conversational strategy in Ellen’s Talk Show. The strategies used are direct speech and indirect speech. The purpose of this study is to classify and to investigate the language functions of expressive speech as conversational strategy occurred in Ellen talk show entitled “Ellen Taught this Fan How to Speak English.” This study uses a qualitative method with descriptive approach in analyzing data. This study applied the theory from Searle and Vanderveken (1985) related to the type of expressive speech act. The data source is taken from a conversation between Diana Aquino as their guest and Ellen as the host. This study is a document or content analysis because the data used is from the internet and was previously posted. The technique of data analysis which the researcher used is the interactive model of Miles and Huberman for data analysis, which consisted of three steps, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The data instrument used is utterances found in Ellen talk show. The results found 8 types of expressive language occurred involves greeting, thanking, complimenting, praising, apologizing, protesting, boasting, and complaining. Abstract

This study aims to determine and examine the effects of using a smartphone while learning English. Motivation, teamwork, and portability were among the effects. The researchers investigated the impact of smartphones on English language learning, a qualitative method used in this research. The study's social context comprised fourth-semester English language education students from Ftik Unisnu Jepara. Twenty students who owned smartphones were used as research subjects. The instruments of the research used Interviews and questionnaires. According to the students' perceptions, the study's findings indicated that their use of smartphones affected their motivation, mobility, and teamwork when studying English. Additionally, using a smartphone could help them learn English more effectively. The findings of this study were corroborated by Barker's idea regarding the effects of smartphone use on learning English. However, there were drawbacks to smartphone use as well. For example, students could use their devices to cheat because they were portable, had a tendency to act quickly, and eventually developed an addiction to them.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant differences and effectiveness of podcasts on the listening skills of 9th grade students of SMP N 5 Jepara in the academic year 2022/2023. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design involving 30 students of 9H as the experimental class and 30 students of 9G as the control class. Data was collected using a listening test instrument consisting of pre-test and post-test. Then, the sampling technique used by the researcher was purposive sampling in which the sample was not taken at random. Furthermore, data analysis used SPSS statistical calculations. The results showed that the average post-test score for the experimental class was higher than the control class (86.9 > 78.9). This indicated that there was a significant difference in the post-test results. Then, the results of the hypothesis analysis showed that t observe was higher than table, namely (4,176 > 2,000). In addition, the 2 tailed sig was lower than alpha (0.00 < 0.05). This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results showed significant differences in the use of podcasts for students' listening skills. Besides that, podcast was also effectively used for listening learning.

Abstract

Berkebhinekaan global berarti mencintai budaya luhur bangsa secara terbuka sebagai upaya menumbuhkan kesadaran budaya berjiwa toleransi dan saling menghargai dengan mengedepankan nilai-nilai luhur, budi pekerti, akhlak, dan karakter peserta didik sebagai penguatan profil Pancasila. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguatkan karakter identitas kebhinekaan global melalui permainan Ular Tangga Budaya bagi pelajar SMP Islam Sultan Agung 3 Kalinyamatan Jepara dan memberikan pengalaman para siswa menyampaikan idenya tentang budaya Indonesia. Setiap konsep dan ide yang ada di dalam media ular tangga budaya terorganisir dalam ilustrasi dan peta budaya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif menjelaskan budaya lokal dan membandingkan budaya lain dengan keragaman global melalui pembelajaran dengan media ular tangga. Penelitian ini secara filosofis memberikan petunjuk cara mengumpulkan data dan menganalisis data dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif berdasarkan urutan siklus. Hasil penelitian setelah penerapan media ular tangga budaya oleh 22 siswa kelas 8 tereksplorasi baik pengetahuannya, sikap kepercayaan diri, dan keterampilan literasinya. Media ular tangga budaya merupakan cara efektif bagi siswa untuk mengenal dan menggambarkan budaya lain untuk mendukung keterampilan literasi budaya untuk mencapai Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) yakni melindungi dan menjaga warisan budaya dan alam dunia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how the English Day strategy in English learning contributes to the improvement of students’ speaking skills. Fluency in English has become more than an ability in an increasingly globalized world. This study used a qualitative case study design supported by a mixed-methods approach, applying interviews with English teachers, student questionnaires, and pre-post speaking assessments analysis from 20 students of Darul Falah Boarding School Klaten. The results show that English Day greatly improves students' confidence and speaking fluency, however, through limited practice, students writing skills remained underdeveloped, indicating an imbalance in the integration of language skills. These findings highlight the value of immersive teaching methods backed by thorough resources and engaged teachers.

Abstract

The Economic Downturn in general has an impact on vulnerable communities. One of those affected by the pandemic storm is the disabled in Jepara Regency. PPDI (Indonesian Association of Persons with Disabilities) Jepara Regency is one of eleven disabled communities in Jepara that focuses on the microeconomic sector. The method used in this service is the ABCD (Asset Bassed Community Development) method. The purpose of this service is to provide assistance and training in HR management, business management and entrepreneurship training, independent business assistance and assist government and private banks in accessing capital and modifying the tools needed to support their business, providing assistance and training on online sales promotion and marketing management both direct and online sales. The results of this service are that partners can carry out their business by applying management knowledge, partners with disabilities have confidence in carrying out their business and partners can carry out their business by promoting their business through online and offline mechanisms and there is the opportunity to partner with a private bank, namely BMT Arta Abadi Jepara and get access to productive monitoring from Baznas Jepara Regency

Abstract

Guru PAUD dituntut untuk harus selalu kreatif dan inovatif dalam membetuk karakter anak dalam setiap pembelajaran. Tujuan kegiatan PkM ini adalah melatih kreativitas finger painting bagi guru PAUD se-Jepara untuk membentuk karakter anak agar berkembang secara kognitif, afektif, dan motorik sesuai dengan teori taksonomi bloom. Metode kegiatan PkM ini adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) melalui tiga strategi yakni sosialisasi, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan adalah menganalisa kebutuhan mitra para guru se-Jepara, pelaksanaan PkM melalui kegiatan sosialisasi, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Kerja sama yang dilakukan antara tim pengabdi dengan mitra adalah untuk meningkatkan kreativitas dan inovasi bagi para guru di Kabupaten Jepara dalam kegiatan finger painting sehingga bisa diterapkan dalam pembelajaran kepada anak usia dini. Hasil kegiatan sosialisasi diperoleh peningkatan pengetahuan guru dalam memahami karakter anak secara kognitif, afektif, dan motorik sebesar 90%. Sementara, peningkatan sebanyak 75% guru memahami teknik finger painting melalui praktik pendampingan.Tulis abstrak Saudara disini
