Revenue of Jumbo Nederland 2012-2024

Between 2012 and 2024, the revenue of Jumbo supermarkets in the Netherlands more than tripled. Whereas in the first year it amounted to roughly *** billion euros, by 2024 this had grown to over **** billion. This, however, was a drop of roughly *** million euros compared to the previous year, and the first y-o-y decrease in turnover during the reported time period. Jumbo notes that the decrease in turnover was due to the ban on tobacco sales as of July 1, 2024. According to the company, if adjusted to this effect turnover has actually increased compared to the previous year.

Parent company Koninklijke Jumbo Food Groep, which also included the Jumbo supermarkets in Belgium, the EMTÉ supermarkets, and the La Place restaurants, had a revenue of roughly ***** billion euros in 2024. 

Jumbo's market share

Between 2012 and 2024, Jumbo’s market share in Dutch supermarket retail more than doubled, although it has been experiencing a slight decline since 2022. With a market share of **** percent in 2024, Jumbo was the second largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands, after Albert Heijn, which had a market share of close to ** percent that year.

Number of Jumbo supermarkets

In 2024, Jumbo operated *** Jumbo supermarkets in the Netherlands. The company grew especially fast between 2012 and 2015, going from *** supermarkets to ***. In the last few years however, the number of supermarkets remained relatively stable. In 2024, the majority of Jumbo supermarkets were franchisees, but a significant number were also operated as subsidiaries.
