Normally the date of arrival is different from the date of departure but persons arriving after midnight and leaving on the same day are included in overnight stays. A person should not be registered in two or more accommodation establishments at the same time."

The number of overnight stays in hotels and similar accommodation in Czechia fluctuated in the observed period. Although the numbers increased overall, there were significant drops in the early years, specifically in 1991. The decline during this period, from 1991 to 1995, can be attributed to the economic downturn following the early ***** recession, which affected global markets and caused a slowdown in many sectors. The second notable drop occurred in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, around ***** million nights were spent in Czech hotels, a visible increase compared to the previous year.
