According to a survey conducted in Ghana in 2023, the majority of households in the country purchased food with cash from the market, especially sugar and condiments, each at about ** percent. Also, over 93 percent of the households obtained dairy and milk from the market with cash. Furthermore, own production was most common for staples, making up about ** percent of the surveyed households. Overall, Ghanaians obtain food from other means such as food aid, gatherings, gifts, and hunting.
