During a 2021 survey conducted among mobile internet users from the lowest socio-economic classes in Brazil, ** percent of respondents said they stopped seeking news online due to the lack of mobile internet connection. That year, the lowest classes accounted for ** percent of Brazil's population; their household income amounted to a maximum of ******** Brazilian reals. Around ** percent of the interviewees stated that they failed to check if a piece of information was false also because they could not access the internet through their cell phones. A year earlier, about five percent of consumers who participated in another survey said they shared news stories in Brazil as soon they received them, without checking their veracity.
