The sales volume of whisky in Japan amounted to ******* kiloliters in fiscal year 2023. While whisky is not a common alcoholic beverage drunk in Japan, the distilled grain liquor plays a major role in the export market. 
The Japanese whisky market is spearheaded by two major distilleries, Nikka Whisky Distilling Co., Ltd. and Suntory Beverage & Food Limited, which owns Japan's oldest commercial whisky manufacturer, Yamazaki.
