The statistic has been compiled from several sources. Figures prior to 2015 were obtained from the publication "Environment and the Economy: Changes in Atmospheric Emissions in the run-up to the Ratification of the Paris Climate Change Agreement" by the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation, page 21. Figures from 2015 to 2020 were obtained from the report "Main Indicators of Environmental Protection 2021" by the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, page 21. The 2021-2023 figures were obtained from the Aerial Forest Protection Service of Russia.
In 2023, over ****** forest fires were recorded in Russia, more than in the previous year. A significantly high number of forest fires in the country was observed in 2010, at ******.
