Request for Phabricator 2FA Reset

Hi Phabricator admin,

I've lost access to the two-step verification app on my phone and am currently unable to log in to Phabricator. Could you please help me reset my access? I work under @Gabriel Birke (WMDE)

Please let me know what details do you need from me to verify my account.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I've since switched to using a desktop app for 2FA and will make sure to back up my data more carefully in the future.

Multi-word search does not succeeed

When I search for e.g. browser language, I don' t find (open) ticket phab:T110489 while the words "browser" and "langugage" are clearly in the title... Why don't I find this ticket? As a consequence, failing search can lead to duplicate ticket creation. Geertivp (talk) 08:41, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

@Geertivp: There are thousands of tickets with these two separate words so it is likely that some ticket is not under the first results. Reenable my Phabricator account

I wonder if I should create a new Wikimedia account to create a new account on Phabricator, but continue using this account to edit the projects. It's been enough time. Faster than Thunder (talk) 02:20, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/people/tasks/authored/32292/ for created tasks and the ratio of valid ones, plus see the comments in there. I can imagine those are hints for reasons.

Coincidentaly, before coming across this post, I was drafting a message to leave on @JJMC89's talk page re. how I'm worried that this account disabling may have been outwith the authority of acl*userdisable members (as opposed to e.g. Phab admins).
For what it's worth — in my non-Phab-admin opinion, and in the absence of a response from JJMC89 to @P858snake's question above, I'd support re-enabling FTT's account. Best, ‍—‍a smart kitten_[meow] 11:13, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

I am not particularly concerned about the initial decision to disable the account. However, I am concerned about the continued non-response here after (as far as I can tell) three separate queries explain that action. taavi (talk!) 17:10, 11 October 2025 (UTC)

JJMC89 is not known for being responsive to queries about their actions; they lost their steward right for that, among other things. Although to be fair they may just be on vacation and not checking Wikimedia at all as this edt shows. * Pppery * _{it has begun} 17:03, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

Sandbox task

Would it be possible to have a Sandbox task in Phabricator where users can go and add badges, remove them, change the task status, subscribe, unsubscribe, etc.?

Request to rename Phab account

Hello, I have a Phabricator account named "MarwanMohamad", when I used my wiki username "Marwan Mohamad". Since I have changed my wiki username to "MarwanMHD", could it be possible to rename my Phab account to the same name?

Require Phabricator admins and acl*userdisable to first warn a good faith user before disabling

In Wikipedia, if a user did a non-constructive edit, they are first warned instead of being blocked instantly unless no good faith can be assumed. So I propose Phabricator admins and acl*userdisable should not disable users that have not yet been warned unless you believe the account does not act in good faith. For example, this is a user that good faith can be assumed (they are testing Phabricator without awaring the proper test instance, so we should first tell them where to test). Oppose. People who have never been here to contribute constructively can and should be disabled. I can't comment for all admins or phab-ban users, But I would assume they act in good faith as a basis, For example myself, I check things like their previous phab activity, their SUL history, their actions against known trends when it comes to vandalism. It is also very easy to un-disable a account in phabricator if one happens by mistake compared to reverting spam actions as that is a area that phabricator is very lacking in. Tracking tasks accross projects

Hi. As a member of the CEEHub's Technical Advancement Group, I would like to be able to track tasks that we or other people logged as part of our various initiative to support tool adoption in the region. However, I'm unsure how we can do that. Tags seemed like a good candidate, but from the documentation my understanding is they are associated with a project, while our work is cross-project.
