Your team is divided on the practicality of AR solutions. How can you find common ground and move forward?

When your team is split on the practicality of augmented reality (AR) solutions, it's crucial to find common ground to move forward effectively. Here are some strategies to help align perspectives and make informed decisions:

  • Host a collaborative workshop: This encourages open dialogue and shared understanding of AR’s potential benefits and limitations.

  • Pilot a small-scale project: Test AR solutions on a smaller scale to gather data and assess feasibility without committing fully.

  • Gather external insights: Consult industry experts or case studies to provide unbiased perspectives on AR applications.

What strategies have worked for you in resolving team divides on tech solutions?

There are many instances especially in such technological solutions, that the team is split on enthusiasm and relevance for the solutions, our approach is to examine all the arguments, and even if there are conflicting ideas within the team, once a solution is chosen, the common ground is about executing the tasks professionally, so even if a team member is not fully behind a solution , they contribute to it as professionals. At times these divisions disperse as the project develops, and at times are proven to have taken a wrong path, but the importance of still testing things out is usually agreeable, as from practice there are always things to be learned.

To find common ground, focus on shared goals, like enhancing user experience or solving a specific problem. Use a structured discussion to explore both perspectives: skeptics can identify potential pitfalls, while advocates highlight opportunities. Conduct a pilot project to test feasibility and outcomes, gathering data to guide the decision. Example: If the debate is about AR in training, agree to test it on a small team with measurable outcomes like skill retention and engagement. Use the results to refine or reconsider the approach, fostering collaboration and shared ownership of the decision.

In technological solutions, it’s common for teams to have differing opinions on the enthusiasm of proposed ideas. At Capermint our approach is to carefully evaluate all arguments, ensuring that even when there are conflicting perspectives, once a solution is chosen, the focus shifts to executing it with professionalism. Team members may not always fully agree with the decision, but they contribute as professionals to its implementation. Over time, these differences often diminish as the project progresses. Occasionally, the chosen path may prove to be incorrect, but the value of testing and experimenting is widely acknowledged. There’s always something to learn from the process, regardless of the outcome.

I have found that finding common ground on the practicality of AR solutions requires a structured and collaborative approach. I consult specialists with experience in AR implementation to gain insights and address challenges. Their expertise boosts our confidence in adopting the technology. I focus on small-scale trials and prototypes to test AR in real-world scenarios. This approach ensures the technology fits and helps gather feedback from all stakeholders. It's essential to align AR projects with the business’s core goals. By identifying clear objective whether improving customer experience, enhancing training, or streamlining operations.
