it was amazing
bookshelves: american-20th-c, poetry, kids, novels

This collection of children's poems from Shel Silverstein is a real treat. Each of the creatures and characters is fascinating and never overly moralistically drawn. There are lots of laughs here - both my kids adored these poems and were sad when I turned the last page. "More!!" they cried.

Great review of a great book, le fino! My kids loved this so much. (Another good poet for kids is John Ciardi. He's a bit older than Silverstein but his stuff holds up. My boys' favorite was "Mommy Slept Late and Daddy Made Pancakes.")

Michael Finocchiaro The same John Ciardi whose translation of the Inferno I reviewed? Wow! I'll check that out!

Montzalee Wittmann I read this to my kids over and over because they loved it and I loved it! I think I know most of the poems by heart even now!

Renata Great endorsement of a fabulous children's book. Our family carted this book around for ages any time we got in the car. The poems were read in restaurants while waiting for our orders, on camping trips, in doctors offices. - wherever! And now it is my grandchildren's turn and I'm still loving it!

Montzalee Wittmann I still have the worn book, that and Falling Up, and of course my all time favorite, The Giving Tree

Michael Finocchiaro I love the Giving Tree but never read Falling Up, will look that up!

Ronyell That's how I feel about this book!
