Experts and international public health organisations stress the lack of surveillance systems for companion animal diseases and the need to implement such surveillance as a priority of the One Health perspective. This paper presents the features of a system for collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of data regarding the health status of pets in the Veneto region (Italy). The system involved the construction of a web-based database containing the diagnoses of transmissible and non-transmissible diseases of dogs and cats made by veterinarians in their practices, hospitals, kennels and catteries. Each diagnosis constitutes a single record, also containing data on the identification of the individual animal and on several characteristics of epidemiological relevance. The World Health Organisation (WHO) International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) for human diseases has been adapted to canine and feline diseases to standardise the diagnostic nomenclature. Background: A lot of research has been done in the field of wound healing utilising stem cell therapy. This study was conducted to compare the efficacy of single and twice application of mesenchymal stem cells for cutaneous wound healing.Methods: The present study was done on 18 guinea pigs and a 2.5 X 2.5 cm2 full-thickness skin wound was created on the dorsum of each under standard anesthetic protocol. Animals were divided into 3 groups having 6 animals in each. The animals of group I were administered phosphate buffer saline (PBS) subcutaneously on day 0, group II received 1×106 mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in PBS subcutaneously on day 0 and group III received 1×106 MSCs in PBS subcutaneously on day 0 and again at day 3, at wound margins. Background and Aim: Police dogs in Iraq have been working mostly as explosive detectors since 2003. The health problems of these dogs are unique and have not been reported in literature. This investigation assessed the prevalence of health problems in Police dogs referred to Baghdad Veterinary Hospital during 2015-2017. Materials and Methods: A total of 1220 police dogs that were referred to Baghdad Veterinary Hospital in 2015-2017 were studied. The dogs were mostly German Shepherd dogs (GSDs) or Belgian Malinois (BM), with an average age of 4.6 years. The dogs' health problems and some of their risk factors were studied. Results: Congestive heart failure (CHF), babesiosis, various malignancies, and intestinal parasites were the most commonly diagnosed health problems, followed by general aging, bronchopneumonia, otitis, nutritional deficiencies, and anemia. Conclusion: The presence of health problems in these working dogs highlights the need for a stricter and more organized preventive schedule to keep the dogs healthy and efficient at old age.

This study was done to explore the influence of stem cells on cutaneous wounds in comparison with treatment with methandrostenoloneon drug. Cutaneous wound was induced on the back of each dog using disposable dermal biopsy punches . Twenty five dogs were divided into five groups: 1 st group (T1) was control. 2 nd group (T2) was induced without any treatment. 3 rd group (T3) was induced wound and treated with phosphate buffer saline, 4 rth group (T4) was induced and treated with 5mg/kg/B.W. of Methandrostenolone, 5 th group (T5) was induced and treated with stem cells 1x10 6 cell/250 µL of phosphate buffer saline. After 7 and 15 days post treatment level of Hb and RBCs count in T2 and T3 group were decline as compared with control group. The WBCs, Alkaline phosphatase , acid phosphataseas in T2 and T3 showed enhance as contrast with T1. After 7 days, Hb and RBCs in T4 and T5 showed important increase as compared with T2. Moreover the WBCs, alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase and total protein levels significantly elevated in the T4 and T5 as compared with T1. After 15 days of treatment the Hb, RBCs, levels of Alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphataseas and total protein levels in T4 showed significant increase as compared with T1, The Hb, RBCs, levels of Alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphataseas and total protein in T5 showed no significant changes as compared with control group (T1). The histopathological section in (T2) explained less collagen and more inflammatory cells, the section of wound tissue in (T4) appeared incomplete healing wound tissue and presence little inflammatory cells, the histopathological section of wound treated in (T5) showed return the wound to normal tissue. From this result it can be concluded that the MSCs have ability to access healing of the wound in comparison with methandrostenolone without any side effect.
