NEW YORK - Maya Lin will always be known for designing the greatest work of public art of the late 20th century, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington.

Lin was just 20 when she designed the memorial. She was a Yale undergraduate studying architecture when, quite incredibly, she won a national competition over more than 1,400 other entrants.

How do you get past something like that? What do you do with the rest of your life?

Plenty, it turns out.

Maya Lin is 41 now. She lives in New York, she's married, and she has two daughters, India, 3, and Rachel, 18 months. Blessed with as much work as she chooses to handle, she works out of a loft studio in the heart of New York's SoHo neighborhood. …
