Statistics Parity Between Sites

When you have standard VLE/LTI integrations via www.turnitinuk.com you can get quite comprehensive statistics that include the number of Quickmarks, Bubble Comments, in-line text comments, voice notes etc that were added.

We also have an integration with Microsoft Teams via a separate site <institution>.turnitin.com but the statistics provided there are more basic - just submission count and users. It also cannot identify which Team the submission come from - it just shows a generic integration name such as "Teams EDU Assignments".

We like to evaluate how each curriculum team is using Turnitin we are not able to get this information for the assignments created via Teams or drill down into which feedback tools are being used via Teams, unlike from the LTI integration in the VLE.

It would be great if this additional details was available on the <institution>.turnitin.com site as well as www.turnitinuk.com so that there is parity between the sites.

    Hi  -

Thanks for the great question and for laying out your use case so clearly.

Unfortunately, our Microsoft Teams integration with Similarity only provides limited stats: number of users, submissions, submissions by similarity range, and a per-submission list (student name, file name, etc.). It doesn’t include class or teacher identifiers like you see through the VLE/LTI integration on turnitinuk.com, and that gap has long been a pain point, so we have noted that on our end.

To clarify: the Turnitin platform that you have integrated with Teams does not have feedback tools (QuickMarks, bubble comments, voice notes, etc.), so those metrics will never be available there.

If richer analytics are critical, the LTI 1.3 integration in your VLE is the best option right now. That said, we’d love your input—please visit our roadmap to see what's coming, and leave feedback there so our product team can better prioritize this need.

    Hope this helps!

    Audrey, Turnitin Team
