Dr. Mulugeta Agonafer is a seasoned educator and scholar with a multidisciplinary academic background that bridges political science, African studies, and engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1990, following an M.A. in Comparative Government with a focus on African Political Economy from Western Washington University in 1980. He also holds a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University (1978) and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University (1979), reflecting a rare blend of technical and social science expertise. At Springfield College, where he has served as a professor since 1992, Dr. Agonafer teaches a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Theories of Oppression, Political Economy and Global Culture, International Organizations, Democracy and Community Development, Ethics and Worldview Analysis, and Organizational Change. His interdisciplinary teaching style emphasizes critical thinking, global awareness, and social justice, equipping students to navigate and transform complex social systems.
