Abstract

The invention relates to a filter for gaseous media, especially an air filter for combustion engines. Said filter is characterised in that the filtering medium consists of flat filter elements (21) which are fixed in their installation position by a frame (12). Said frame (12) is configured in such a way that it forms a wedge-shaped inner chamber (13) which can represent the clean side of the filter connected to an outlet (27). The necessary filtering surface is divided into several segments, increasing its stability compared to a single filter insert for the entire filter. Additional stiffening is therefore not necessary, the pressure pulse behaviour of the filter is improved and the provision of a filter frame reduces the dimensional precision required of the individual parts. This results in production cost savings. Material costs can also be saved thanks to the stiffer construction, which also advantageously results in the weight of the filter being reduced.
