Application filed September 10, 1915. Serial No. 50,021.
ful Improvements in Reversible Mailing-- Bags, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in mailing bags and more particularly to a mailing bag which is reversible so that it can be used a number of times.
The invention consists in a reversible mailing bag shown in its preferable embodiment in the accompanylng drawings and hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.
In the aforesaid drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a reversible mailing bag made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2-is a sectional view of the same. Figs. 3 and 4 are views showing modifications.
Referring now to the details of the drawings by numerals: 1 designates the usual 'or any preferred form of bag provided with gathering strings 2 and 3. Nothing new is claimed in this bag itself, and hence any desirable form of bag may be employed. The bottom of the bag has projecting from it a tag 4: which, as illustrated, is secured to the bottom of the bag by stitching, the material forming the tag 4 also passing up into the bag 1 preferably forthe same distance that the tag 4 projects out of the bag, so as to form a second tag 5. This makes it possible for the bag to be sent through the mails with an address on the tag 4, and if it is desired to again use it, the bag may be reversed so that the tag at is on the inside of the bag and the tag 5 on the outside, when the bag may be remailed by using the tag 5 for the new address.
It will be obvious that the bag may be used a number of times by employing more than the two tags 4 and 5, shown in Fig. 1.
For example, the tags may be slit, as indicated at 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Fig. 3, or they may be perforated as indicated at 11, 12, 13 and 14 in Fig. 4.
From the foregoing and accompanying drawings it will be seen that I have provided a reversible bag which may be used a number of times and one that will be found very useful when it is desired to mail an article to one address and have it inspected and remailed to another address. In this case, the same bag may be used for re-mailing by merely reversing the bag proper so as to shift the position of the tags.
What I claim as my invention is:
As a new article of manufacture, a bag proper having a tag projecting within the bag and without the bag, whereby the bag may be reversed and have a tag for each side.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HARRY K. CUNKLE.
