Abstract
The present invention relates to an anti-icing road surface treatment composition applied to prevent freezing of a pavement surface in winter, the road surface treatment composition containing 30 to 50 parts by weight of an asphalt emulsifier or MMA, 30 to 40 parts by weight of silica, and 10 to 40 parts by weight of a mixed anti-icing agent, wherein the mixed anti-icing agent is a mixture of 30 to 70 wt% of a chloride composed of one or more of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, and 30 to 70 wt% of anti-icing and rust inhibitor microcapsules, wherein the anti-icing and rust inhibitor microcapsules are characterized in that they contain a chloride composed of one or more of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, and a rust inhibitor. Description
The present invention relates particularly to a surface treatment composition applied to a road surface to prevent freezing of a concrete or asphalt road surface in winter.
In the past, whenever ice formed on the road surface or snow accumulated, work was done to remove ice or snow, and to spray deicing agents containing sodium chloride or calcium chloride (manual snow removal and deicing technology). However, simultaneous snow removal of the entire frozen section was not realistically possible due to limitations in manpower and equipment, so there was a problem of snow removal work being delayed by section, and the cost burden and environmental pollution due to excessive use of deicing agents were also problems.
In order to solve the above problems, a method of applying a surface treatment composition for preventing freezing on the surface of a road has been proposed in recent years (active snow and ice removal technology). For example, the inventions disclosed in Patent Registration No. 10-1838896 (announcement date: 2018.03.15.), Patent Registration No. 10-1885813 (announcement date: 2018.09.06.), etc., apply an anti-icing surface treatment composition for road pavement containing an anti-icing agent such as calcium chloride to the surface of a road surface and cure it, thereby achieving the effects of snow melting and ice melting through the action of dissolving the anti-icing agent contained in the composition when the road freezes. However, there was a problem in that the anti-icing agent was easily lost due to dissolution in rainwater.
In order to solve the problem of the anti-freezing agent disappearing all at once as mentioned above, Patent Registration No. 10-2682560 (Announcement Date: July 9, 2024) disclosed that anti-freezing chloride is filled inside or coated on the outside of porous mineral particles such as porous basalt particles so that it is slowly released in a sustained manner to obtain a continuous anti-freezing effect. However, this does not solve the fundamental problem of the anti-freezing agent disappearing by dissolving in water.
Meanwhile, recently, Patent Registration No. 10-2683892 (Announcement Date: 2024.07.11.) proposed an anti-icing composition that mixes porous anti-icing powder and PCM (Phase Change Material) microcapsules. That is, the principle is that the microcapsules containing phase change material (PCM) undergo a phase change in the black ice occurrence area (0 to 5 degrees) and release heat to reduce the adhesion strength with the ice layer formed on the road surface, thereby improving the anti-icing effect.
Here, it is desirable for the PCM microcapsule to have a property of not releasing the phase change material (PCM) inside, whereas the basic property of microcapsules is generally to slowly release the material stored inside the capsule, i.e., 'sustained release'. Accordingly, the inventors of the present invention intend to provide a road surface treatment composition and method for preventing freezing, which obtain a continuous anti-freezing effect by storing an anti-icing solution containing an anti-icing agent dissolved therein inside a conventional microcapsule and slowly releasing it.
Accordingly, the purpose of the present invention is to provide an anti-icing road surface treatment composition that obtains a continuous anti-icing effect by storing an anti-icing agent inside a microcapsule and slowly releasing it.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides an anti-icing road surface treatment composition, comprising 30 to 50 parts by weight of an asphalt emulsifier or MMA, 30 to 40 parts by weight of silica, and 10 to 40 parts by weight of a mixed anti-icing agent, wherein the mixed anti-icing agent is a mixture of 30 to 70 wt% of a chloride composed of one or more of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, and 30 to 70 wt% of anti-icing and rust-preventive microcapsules, wherein the anti-icing and rust-preventive microcapsules contain a chloride composed of one or more of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, and a rust inhibitor.
In addition, to achieve the above object, the present invention provides an anti-icing road surface treatment composition, comprising 30 to 50 parts by weight of MMA, 30 to 40 parts by weight of silica, and 10 to 40 parts by weight of a mixed anti-icing agent, wherein the mixed anti-icing agent is a mixture of 30 to 70 wt% of a chloride composed of one or more of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, and 30 to 70 wt% of anti-icing and rust inhibitor microcapsules, wherein the anti-icing and rust inhibitor microcapsules contain a chloride composed of one or more of sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, and a rust inhibitor.
Here, the chloride and the rust inhibitor contained in the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules are preferably provided in the form of fine particles accommodated in porous particles, and thus are contained in the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules in the form of the porous particles being contained as the core of the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules.
In addition, an anti-coagulant layer made of an anti-coagulant may be formed on the outer surface of the film forming the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules.
In addition, the road surface treatment composition for anti-icing may additionally contain 2 to 3 parts by weight of cement.
As described above, according to the road surface treatment composition for preventing freezing according to the present invention, the anti-icing agent is provided in a state of being stored inside the microcapsules, so that a continuous anti-icing effect on the paved road surface can be obtained by slowly releasing the anti-icing agent due to the characteristics of the microcapsules.
Furthermore, since the microcapsules store and slowly release a rust inhibitor together with the anti-freeze agent, the effect of reducing vehicle corrosion caused by the anti-freeze agent can be obtained.

Figure 2 is a flow chart for explaining a method for manufacturing the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules.
Figure 3 is a diagram showing the components of a road surface treatment composition for preventing freezing according to an embodiment of the present invention.
The road surface treatment composition for anti-icing according to an embodiment of the present invention contains anti-icing and anti-rust microcapsules (10) as a component as shown in FIG. 1.
The above anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsule (10) is manufactured according to the sequence shown in Fig. 2. Hereinafter, it will be described with reference to Fig. 2.
Anti-icing agents commonly used are chlorides such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride, and magnesium chloride.
Calcium chloride ( CaCl2 ) is a colorless or white solid, and is mass-produced as a by-product of the production of sodium carbonate using the Solvay process or by adding hydrochloric acid to calcium carbonate. Anhydrous white crystals with a specific gravity of 2.15 and easily soluble in water. When crystallized as a saturated solution below 30℃, it produces hexahydrate, which becomes anhydrous when heated to 300℃. Calcium chloride is used as a deicer or ice remover in winter because calcium chloride has a deicing property. Deicing refers to the property of absorbing water in the surroundings. When sprinkled on snow or ice, it absorbs moisture and decomposes, generating heat in the process to melt the snow or ice. In addition, the calcium chloride solution melted in this way lowers the freezing point of water to -55℃, preventing it from freezing again.
Calcium chloride is much more effective than sodium chloride, especially at low temperatures, so there is no other anti-icing agent as good as it. However, its disadvantage is that it is about 70% more corrosive than sodium chloride, so if it comes into contact with the car body, it can further promote corrosion, and it is also slightly more expensive than sodium chloride.
Therefore, in the embodiment of the present invention, considering the problem of corrosion of the body due to chlorides such as calcium chloride, a rust inhibitor is mixed and stored inside the microcapsules together with the chloride. Thus, by releasing the rust inhibitor together with the chloride in a sustained manner, the side effect that was accompanied by the effect of preventing freezing, that is, the corrosion problem of the body, can be solved to some extent. Such rust inhibitors can be used such as chromates, phosphates, silicates, organic nitrogen and sulfur compounds, etc.
In particular, sodium gluconate, which is commonly used in various fields, is a sodium salt of gluconic acid, a safe and non-toxic substance that dissolves well in water, so it is used for various purposes as a corrosion inhibitor, stabilizer, and detergent. However, since it can irritate the skin when used in high concentrations, it is recommended to use a relatively small amount.
(S1).Since the above sodium gluconate is classified as a water-soluble rust inhibitor, when mixing with the above chloride, it is preferable to dissolve calcium chloride, etc. in the sodium gluconate aqueous solution to create a mixed solution with the chloride (S1).
(S4).Into the solution obtained by mixing the above chloride and rust inhibitor, porous particle powder is added and mixed, and the chloride and rust inhibitor mixed solution is absorbed into the porous particle powder (S2). Then, the porous particle powder is taken out and dried for a certain period of time, thereby manufacturing a porous anti-icing and anti-rust powder (S3). The manufactured porous anti-icing and anti-rust powder particles are coated with an oil-philic oil or a water-repellent substance, dried, and then pulverized, thereby manufacturing an anti-icing and anti-rust coating powder (S4).
Microcapsules containing the above-described anti-freezing and anti-rust coating powder are manufactured (S5 to S7). That is, 0.1 to 0.5 weight part of a high molecular polymer having a number average molecular weight of 10,000 to 100,000 is dissolved in 20 to 40 weight parts of an organic solvent having a boiling point of less than 80°C, 1 weight part of the above-described anti-freezing and anti-rust coating powder having a fineness of less than 100 mesh is added, and the mixture is uniformly stirred to obtain a dispersed phase. The high molecular polymer is preferably polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or a mixture thereof. At this time, the organic solvent is preferably dichloromethane, cyclohexane, acetone, or the like.
And, the dispersed phase is added to 100-200 weight parts of the continuous phase, and 2-5 weight parts of an emulsifier are added to form a stable emulsion. Then, a step of volatilizing by reducing pressure or heating at room temperature or evaporating the organic solvent in the emulsion and then filtering is performed. Thereafter, the primary microcapsules are obtained by washing with petroleum ether and drying at room temperature (S5). Alternatively, instead of performing the above-mentioned reducing pressure or heating, a method may be used in which a wet cake state is obtained through a process such as centrifugation, and this is then washed with water, dried, and pulverized to obtain the primary microcapsules (S5). The above-mentioned continuous phase is preferably one or two or more of liquid paraffin, methyl silicone oil, ethyl silicone oil, and glycerin.
Meanwhile, the following process is performed to harden the primary microcapsule obtained as described above.
(S6).That is, 0.1 to 0.3 parts by weight of a hydrogen-extracting photoinitiator and 0.05 to 0.3 parts by weight of a temperature-sensitive molecule are dissolved in 3 to 10 parts by weight of anhydrous ethanol, 1 part by weight of the primary microcapsule is added, and the mixture is uniformly stirred at 40 to 60°C. The mixture is heated for 0.5 to 3 hours, cooled to normal temperature, and then irradiated with ultraviolet rays in a nitrogen atmosphere. Thereafter, the mixture is washed with ethanol and dried to obtain anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules (S6).
The above temperature sensitive molecule is N-sec-butyl acrylamide, N-tert-butyl acrylamide, N-methyl-N-sec-butyl acrylamide, N-ethyl-N-sec-butyl acrylamide, N-ethyl-N-butyl acrylamide, preferably N-methyl-N-sec-butyl propylene. The above hydrogen abstraction type photoinitiator is one or more of benzoin dimethyl ether, benzophenone, acetylbenzene, 4-benzyl benzophenone, and anthrone.
Lastly, the polymer constituting the surface layer of the anti-icing and anti-rust microcapsules obtained as described above has a relatively strong adsorption capacity, so it has the effect of not being easily removed by erosion by rainwater, but it can cause bonding or coagulation between capsules, which can cause the problem of not being evenly distributed on the road surface when applied.
(S7).To prevent these problems, an anti-agglomeration layer is formed by coating the surface of the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules to prevent agglomeration with other capsules (S7).
The properties required for the material forming the above-mentioned anti-aggregate layer, i.e. the anti-aggregate agent, are typically a very low aqueous solubility of less than 20 mg per liter under standard conditions, sufficient mechanical stability to maintain an effective barrier, and the ability to allow coating on the surface of the high molecular weight polymer capsule and subsequent drying. Typical anti-aggregate agents include fatty acid salts of monovalent or polyvalent metal ions, in particular sodium, potassium, calcium or zinc stearate or palmitate.
The coating of the above anti-coagulant is carried out by mixing the anti-coagulant and the anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsules in a rotating vessel to form a coating layer, i.e. an anti-coagulant layer, on the surface of the capsules to an appropriate thickness.
The anti-freezing and anti-rust microcapsule (10) obtained by the above-described manufacturing method is described as conceptually illustrated in Fig. 1. A film (11) of a certain thickness made of a high molecular polymer contains porous particles (12) as a core therein, and the porous particles (12) contain chloride microparticles (13) made of an anti-freezing agent such as calcium chloride and anti-rust microparticles (14) for preventing vehicle corrosion. In addition, an anti-coagulation layer (15) is coated on the outer surface of the film (11) to prevent coagulation with other capsules or compounding components such as silica.
Meanwhile, the road surface treatment composition for preventing freezing according to an embodiment of the present invention contains anti-icing and anti-rust microcapsules (10) manufactured as described above.
Specifically, the road surface treatment composition for anti-icing according to an embodiment of the present invention contains 30 to 50 wt% of an asphalt emulsifier or MMA (methyl methacrylate), 30 to 40 wt% of silica sand (No. 6), and 10 to 40 wt% of a mixed anti-icing agent, as shown in FIG. 3.
Asphalt emulsifier is an asphalt-based solution containing an emulsifier and a stabilizer, and is generally called an emulsion, and acts as an adhesive with moisture-proof and waterproof functions to effectively adhere asphalt to the ground. Asphalt emulsifier is composed of approximately 40 to 75 wt% of asphalt, 25 to 60 wt% of water, and 0.1 to 2.5 wt% of emulsifier and other components. Alternatively, MMA resin may be used instead of the asphalt emulsifier. If it is a concrete road, MMA resin is used instead of the asphalt emulsifier.
The mixed anti-icing agent means a mixture of a general anti-icing agent such as calcium chloride or sodium chloride and the anti-icing and rust-preventive microcapsules (10). It is preferable that the ratio of the anti-icing and rust-preventive microcapsules (10) in the entire mixed anti-icing agent be selected in the range of 30 to 70 wt%. If the ratio of the anti-icing and rust-preventive microcapsules (10) is low, the sustainability of the anti-icing performance of the road may be significantly reduced, and on the other hand, if the ratio of the anti-icing and rust-preventive microcapsules (10) is excessively high, the lifespan required for a general paved road (usually within 10 years) may be exceeded, resulting in no practical benefit.
The anti-icing road surface treatment composition according to the embodiment of the present invention as described above is applied at a rate of 1 liter per 1 m2 of asphalt or concrete surface. If it is a concrete surface, a primer surface treatment is first performed before application.
If the curing time is long, mix and use cement by adding 2-3% of the total weight. If it exceeds 3%, the applied surface may break or crack.
Meanwhile, the road surface treatment composition for anti-icing described above is only an example to help understanding of the present invention, and therefore, the scope of rights and technical scope of the present invention is defined by the claims described below, and within a scope that does not depart from the described matters, the present invention may be implemented in various embodiments in addition to the examples described above.
