Abstract

본 발명은 포커스에러신호를 검출하기 위한 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 일반적인 광픽업시스템에서 대물렌즈와 광검출기 사이의 빔경로상에, 대물렌즈의 굴절률 차이에 의하여 발생하는 구면수차를 보정하여 출력하는 구면수차보정판을 배치하여, 두께가 다른 디스크로부터 최적의 포커스에러신호를 검출할 수 있도록 한다. 따라서, 본 발명은 DVD와 CD 모두에서 최적의 포커스에러신호를 검출하는 효과를 갖는다.

Description

포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템
이러한 DVD/CD 겸용방식에 대해 기제안된 기술로는 마쯔시다의 2중촛점렌즈방식과 미쯔비시의 2매렌즈방식 등이 있다. 이중 마쯔시다의 2중촛점렌즈방식은 대물렌즈로 입사하는 빔을 홀로그램소자를 이용하여 셋으로 나누고 이중 두가지의 빔을 선택하여 사용하기 때문에 빔효율이 떨어진다. 또한, 디스크에서 반사된 빔이 수광계로 돌아올 때도 홀로그램소자에 의해 회절되므로 빔효율이 CD에 비해 현저히 저하되는 문제점이 있으며, 이 때문에 2중촛점렌즈방식은 고광량의 레이져출력이 요구되며, 따라서 광을 발생시키는 레이저다이오드의 수명단축이 우려된다.
미쯔비시의 2매렌즈방식은 디스크의 두께에 따라 대물렌즈를 교환하는 방식으로, 이를 위해서는 2매의 대물렌즈를 안정하게 구동시킬 수 있는 액츄에이터를 구현해야 하지만 이 또한 쉽지 않다.
현재, DVD 광픽업시스템의 기본사양은 다음과 같다.

본 발명은 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템에 관한 것으로서, 특히 두께가 다른 DVD와 CD에서 디스크의 두께에 관계없이 안정된 포커스에러신호를 검출할 수 있는, 포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD 겸용 광픽업시스템에 관한 것이다.
현재 비데오카세트레코더(VCR)나 컴팩트디스크플레이어(CDP)의 뒤를 이을 영상매체로 디지탈비데오디스크플레이어(DVDP)에 관한 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. DVD는 CD와 동일한 크기(직경)를 갖지만, CD보다 트랙피치가 작기 때문에 고밀도기록이 이뤄지며, 기록용량은 CD의 약 8배(단면, 단층)가 된다. 따라서, 이와 같은 고밀도용의 디스크를 재생하는 시스템에서, 기존의 저밀도용(CD, CD-ROM, CD-I, …)의 디스크도 재생할 수 있도록 설계하는 것이, 시장확보 등의 측면에서 매우 유리하다.
그러나, DVD는 두께가 0.6mm인 기판 두개를 붙여 제작하므로 양면을 재생해야 하는데 반해, CD는 1.2mm두께의 단일기판으로 되어 있기 때문에 한쪽면만이 재생된다. 따라서, 이러한 두께차이로 인하여 하나의 픽업장치에서 DVD와 CD를 재생하는데는 문제가 있으므로, 두께에 관계없이 광픽업장치의 구조나 기능이 항상 안정되게 작동되도록 구현하는 것이 관건이 되고 있다.

Claims (5)

  1. 디스크상에 기록된 신호를 검출하기 위한 광픽업장치에 있어서, 상기 기록된 신호의 검출에 이용되는 빔을 방사하는 레이져다이오드; 상기 레이져다이오드로부터 방사된 빔을 투과하고, 상기 디스크상으로부터 반사된 빔을 반사하는 빔스플리터; 상기 빔스플리터를 투과한 빔을 상기 디스크상에 집속하고, 상기 디스크로부터 반사된 빔을 상기 빔스플리터로 입사시키는 대물렌즈; 상기 빔스플리터에서 반사된 빔을 그 빔에 포함된 구면수차성분을 보정하며 투과시키는 구면수차보정판; 상기 구면수차보정판을 투과한 빔을 그 빔의 비점수차성분을 조절하며 투과시키는 비점수차렌즈; 및 상기 비점수차렌즈를 투과한 빔으로부터 포커스에러신호를 검출하는 광검출기로 포함하는, 포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 구면수차보정판은 그 두께가 상기 구면수차성분의 보정에 적합하도록 조절되어 제작되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 구면수차보정판은 상기 비점수차성분을 조절하는 비점수차렌즈의 특성을 고려하여 상기 구면수차보정판의 두께를 조절하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템.
  4. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 광픽업시스템은 상기 레이져다이오드와 상기 빔스플리터사이에, 상기 레이져다이오드에서 방사되는 빔을 일정하게 분산시키는 회절격자를 더 포함하는, 포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 광픽업시스템은 상기 빔스플리터와 상기 대물렌즈사이에, 상기 빔스플리터로부터 발산되어 출사된 빔을 평행하게 변환시키는 콜리메이팅렌즈(collimating lense)를 더 포함하는, 포커스에러를 검출하는 DVD/CD겸용 광픽업시스템.
