Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled synthetic fiber having a specific uneven surface pattern along circumference perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber, having dull appearance and suitable for artificial hair, artificial fur and artificial fur yarn. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber has an uneven surface pattern consisting of ridges and grooves along the outer circumference perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber. The distances between the bottoms of grooves V1, V2, V3... and the bottoms of the adjacent grooves are about 3-30mum, the perpendicular distance between the tops of the ridges P1, P2... and the bottoms of the grooves V1, V2, V3... are about 0.2-2mum and the number of the ridges along the outer circumference is about 0.2-3 per 10mum. The fiber can be produced by melt-spinning a nylon and cooling the spun fiber in a warm water-bath of iota30 deg.C for a period sufficiently long to form an uneven pattern on the surface of the fiber.
