Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable easy initial setting with an inexpensive construction, by printing setting items of initialization data and changing the contents of a nonvolatile memory through operations on an operation panel. CONSTITUTION:An operation panel 35 has four switches, namely, an 'HS' switch 35a, an 'LF' switch 35b, an 'FF' switch 35c and an 'SEL' switch 35d, and supplies a controlling circuit 21 with drive designations for mode setting, setting item printing, movement control and content change. A nonvolatile memory 24 stores preset initialization data, and initialization is conducted based on the data. When the 'SEL' switch 35d and the 'HS' switch 35a on the panel 35 are operated, the controlling circuit 21 sets a mode for changing the contents of the nonvolatile memory 24. The 'HS' switch 35a and the 'LF' switch 35b on the panel 35 supplies the controlling circuit 21 with instructions designating a feeding direction for a paper 41, whereas the 'FF' switch 35c and the 'SEL' switch 35d supplies the circuit 21 with instructions designating a moving direction for a carriage 42.
