Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a recording liquid having excellent discharging stability, shelf stability and printed image characteristics (density, definition, water resistance, light resistance), by blending, as a recording agent, a water-soluble red dye and a red pigment in combination.
CONSTITUTION: A mixt. of a water-soluble dye (a) (e.g. C.I. Direct Red 2) and a red pigment (b) (e.g. C.I. Pigment Red 25) in a weight ratio of 10:1W1:10, is used as a recording agent, both dye and pigment being represented by CIE standard chromaticity diagram within dominant wavelength: 490nm or longer, excitation purity: 56±5% and brightness: 20±5%. 1W20wt% (based on the total amount of recording liquid) above recording agent (A), a high-molecular dispersant (B) (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol having a MW of 1,000W100,000) and water (C) (which may be used together with a water-miscible org. solvent such as ethylene glycol), are blended together. The mixt. is adjusted so as to give a viscosity of 1W20cps to produce a red recording liquid.
