Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Tris(3-actylthiopropyl)isocyanurate of the formula.
USE: Raw material of mercaptopropyl isocyanurate, alkylthiopropyl isocyanurate, sulfatopropyl isocyanurate or these salts, which are useful as crosslinking agent for synthetic resin, photopolymerizable monomer, vulcanizing accelerator for rubber, starting material of agricultural chemicals, epoxy resin curing agent.
PREPARATION: The reaction of triallyl isocyanurate and thiolacetic acid is effected by heating to 0W150°C in a solvent selected from hydrocarbons, ethers, ketones, fatty acids, esters, halogenated hydrocarbons to give the objective compound of the formula. In the reaction, the irradiation with ultraviolet rays in the presence of a ketone as sensitizer or the addition of nonoxidative organic radical catalyst or their combination accelerates the reaction to increase the yield.
