Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce defacement and damage of the disc surface by rotating the magnetic disc only at an information write and read time. CONSTITUTION:When head 4 is brought into contact with a prescribed position of magnetic disc 5 and a power source is supplied, motor 6 is rotated. The rotation of this motor 6 is not transferred to disc 5 until electromagnetic clutch 7 becomes a connection state through electromagnetic clutch driver 8 by the control signal from host controller 1 according to information write and read, and disc 5 is rotated only at an information write and read time. As a result, defacement, damage, etc., of the disc surface can be reduced in comparison with a system where a head is loaded and unloaded to the rotating magnetic head.
