Abstract

The invention described here relates to a container 1 for the in situ sterilisation of wastes produced by medical outpatient units and the like through a source 2 of microwaves and a suitable radiator 3 and antenna which makes it possible to uniformly irradiate the entire mass which has to be treated neutralising the bacterial charge for treating wastes of this kind under conditions of maximum safety, and to place the said wastes after treatment in normal public dumps without any possibility of pollution or the spread of diseases. The novel feature of the invention lies above all in the radiating system which combines the characteristics of a conventional propagation antenna with the characteristics of a resonant cavity, and therefore ensures uniform heating of the entire mass which is to be treated, with consequent perfect sterilisation of the said mass at all points. This invention can be classified in the technical field of microwave electronic devices and in the application field of the treatment of health wastes. <IMAGE>
