991,752. Sectional buildings; roofs; floors; foundations; slab walls. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. May 12,1961 [May 30, 1960], No. 17425/61. Headings E1B, E1S and E1V. In a building the foundation beams 1, 2 (Fig. 1), floors 3, 6, walls 4, 5 and roof 9 are each built up from interlocking elements held by vertical and horizontal tie rods passing therethrough. Storey-high rectangular wall slabs 19, 20, Fig. 5, are held together by horizontal rods 97, 92 connected end-to-end by threaded sleeves 95, 86 which abut or are integral with plates 90, 85 embedded in the slabs, each rod having a length corresponding to the slab width. The corrugated mating edges of the slabs are covered with resilient plastics sealing material. Suitable paper, felt or other facings are applied during manufacture for the internal and external surfaces of wall, floor and roof slabs. A protective layer of removable paper may also be provided. Series of vertical threaded rods 39, also coupled end-to-end by sleeves abutting embedded plates, extend from each foundation beam 1, Fig. 4, to the rectangular roof slabs 9. The meeting edges of wall, floor and roof slabs are covered with sealing material and are of zig-zag form shaped to that they partly intermesh but leave two square-section channels 113, 114 which are filled with sealing material. The roof slabs may be covered in roofing felt and abutting edges may be of zig-zag or bevelled form to provide a waterproof seal, with or without the use of filling material (Figs. 9-14, not shown). The foundation beams comprise hollow blocks, Fig. 6, having interlocking projections and recesses 100, 101, and are held together by series of end-to-end rods 43, 44, similar to the rods 39. Compound foundation blocks may be provided to allow the connection of two foundation beams at an angle. Specifications 991,751, 991,753, and 991,754 are referred to.
