Abstract
562,343. Oil engines. PESCARA, R. P. Feb. 5, 1943, No. 1967. Convention date, April 30, 1942. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel injection system comprises an injector 6 delivering directly into the cylinder and an injector 7 directed into an ante-chamber to the cylinder, the direct injection starting before the antechamber injection. As shown, a single cam actuates both injectors and the passage of fuel to the ante-chamber injector 7 is delayed by inserting a tortuous path 12 into the supply line 9, but if two or more pairs of injectors are used, the ante-chamber injectors may be operated by a separate cam and the interval between the direct and ante-chamber injections be made variable, for example, in correspondence with the charging pressure. The charge delivered by the ante-chamber injector is smaller than that of the direct injector and may be kept constant, the direct charge being increased as the'load increases.
