Abstract

An airbag is provided for preventing or reducing damage to a vehicle when a collision occurs. The airbag 30 is housed within a bumper 20 of the vehicle and may be triggered by the driver when an accident is imminent, for example by the use of a button on the steering wheel 10. Alternatively the airbag may be triggered automatically, or by steady application of the brakes. The airbag may deflate when contact occurs, thus cushioning the impact, and may then be withdrawn back into the bumper.

Description

Description 241 81 78
Whenever there is a collision the vehicle is damaged on the outside, which can cause serious injury to the occupant. This invention is design to minimize the damage that is done to the vehicle, which will then result in less damage to the occupants. This wild occur due to the air bag that will come out from the front of the vehicle, to be specific the bumper region. This air bag is not design like an ordinary air bag because of the fact that the object being protected is different. An ordinary air bag protects human being by being inflated to protect against bodily harm. However, the driver will innate this air bag if he/she sees an accident is about to occur. When the driver see the accident will occur and is travelling at top speed, (before the vehicle colloids) the driver will inflate the air bag. However, upon contact the air bag will be filled with air to its maximum size. Then in order for the cars velocity to be reduced the air bag will reduce in size and the air released in order for the vehicle not to go in the opposite direction. Therefore the air bag will be a cushion but will reduce in size in order for the car to come to a stop. Thus this air bag will be a barrier between the vehicle and an object or another car. This invention prevents the vehicle from being crush and also will then prevent bodily harm. (It is important to note that a steady application of breaks can trigger the air bag or the pressing of a button by the driver.)
Detail Description
The driver of the car is travelling at high speed. He/she then sees an object in his/her path. In the case with the diagram it is a wall and decides to protect him/her self by pressing a button on the steering shown in figure or Ex. I #10 The button then triggers a response where an air bag is release front the bumper region where it was previously store. Shown in Ex. 1 #20 The air bag reaches its full size and cushions the impact. It then beings to loose air in an effort not to cause the vehicle to go in the opposite direction.
Shown in Ex. I #30 The air bag makes contact with a wall that is in its path but was speared damage by the air bag Ex. 1 #40 The car is seen from a plan view with driver again responding to the danger in Ex. 2 #50 The air bag is inflated by the driver from the centre of the bumper shown in Ex. 2 #60 The air bag is inflated and prevents the accident and then begins to loose air in order to reduce the vehicles velocity and bring it to a stop. Shown on Ex. 2 #70 The wall that was going to cause damage to the car. Ex. 2 # 80 The driver is in hisiher car and triggers the air bag from the steering shown in Ex. 3 # 90.
The invisible connection to the front bumper where the air bag is inflated.
Shown in Ex. 3 # 100 The storage area in the centre of the bumper where the air bag is store and is inflated upon the drivers command. Shown in Ex. 3 #120 The exit area of the air bag as it is released to protect the vehicle from damage.
Shown in Ex. 3 #120 The air bag is inflated to full size, which prevents the accident and is on its way down so that the velocity of the car is reduced. Fx. 3 # l 30 The wall in the path ofthe vehicle. Shown in Ex. 3 #140 The driver sees the object causing the damage and inflates the air bag from the steering. Shown in Ex. 4 #150 The wire connecting the button to the air bag holder that will release the bag upon request of the driver. Shown in Ex. # 160 The air bag holder at the centre of the vehicle that release the bag upon request of the driver. Ex 4. #170 The exit point of the air bag as the driver inflates the bag. Shown in Ex. 180 The bag prevents the accident from occurring and then reduces in size to reduce the speed of the car. Shown in Ex. 4 #19() The wall that would cause damage to the vehicle if it were not for the air bag.

Claims (1)

  1. An air bag is inflated upon contact of an object in its path to prevent
damage to the vehicle and bodily harm to the occupants.
An air bag as in claim one is inflated from the centre of the bumper in order to create a barrier between the vehicle and an object in its path.
An air bag as in claim two is inflated from the bumper when the vehicle is travelling at top speed and acts as a cushion, but air is release upon contact with an object in order to slow down the vehicle and brings it to a stop.
An air bag as in claim three will be filly emptied of the air and then will be hauled back into its original position that is in the centre of the bumper.
An air bag as in any other of the above claim is under the control of the driver who inflates base on his/her site of danger.
An air bag as in any other of the above claim is inflated from a button on the drivers steering or from a steady application of the breaks.
