Abstract

A locking mechanism of an automotive vehicle or other machine for the differential gear includes an air chamber 1 divided by a diaphragm into two spaces, and having an opening through which one end of a push rod 12 is slidable to bear against the diaphragm, said push rod being actuatable by pressure in the air chamber to operate a push fork 11 for the locking mechanism 10, 8 against a pressure spring 14. In a preferred construction said push rod is located within a housing 13 for the gearing and said end of the push rod (of area D) projects through an opening of the housing with which the opening in the air chamber is aligned. <IMAGE>
