Abstract

A lock with a day-bolt retractable against a spring, comprises a bolt plate 7 formed with a slot 8 engaging a lock pin 9 secured to the lock casing and a movable segment 10 co- operating with that catch. In the normal extended position of the bolt 3 the lock pin 9 is located in a central portion of the slot 8 and a catch 12 of the segment 10 is located against the lock pin 9 so as to prevent further outward movement of the bolt. The catch 12 on the segment allows retraction of the bolt 3. The segment 10 is lifted to raise the catch 12 out of the way of the lock catch 9 when moving the bolt 3 by means of a key or cylinder catch from its normal extended position or "day-position" to a further extended position or "night- position". The segment 10 drops again to lock the bolt 3 in its night- position by means of the catch 12 on the segment 10. <IMAGE>
