Abstract
1323883 Moulding turbine blades ROLLSROYCE Ltd 8 Dec 1970 [19 Dee 1969] 62041/69 Heading B5A [Also in Division F1] A compressor blade is produced in a mould 1 having separable parts 2, 3 by initially inserting two flexible fluid-impermeable blade wall members 4, 5, e.g. of partly cured epoxy resin reinforced with carbon fibres. A compression spring 10 and other resilient members 11 to 14 are then inserted between walls 4, 5 and the mould closed. Hydraulic or pneumatic fluid is introduced under pressure into the blade interior so as to force walls 4, 5 against mould parts 2, 3. The walls 4, 5 are then moulded together to complete the curing of the resin and to seal the fluid and resilient members within the blade.
