(1 - Alkyl - 5 - nitroimidazol - 2 - yl)alkyl carbamates are prepared by reacting a 1-alkyl-2- hydroxyalkyl - 5 - nitroimidazole with carbamoyl-fluoride in a neutral or basic non- hydroxylic solvent.
