Abstract

115,751. Hedderwick, H. J. Aug. 2, 1917. Looking nuts.-Relates to devices of the type comprising a cap having lugs to fit the nut and a collar surrounding the upper part of the bolt and prevented from turning by a tapered pin passed through the bolt and slots in the collar, and consists in inclining the sides of the slots in the collar so that the pin presses the cap down on to the face of the nut. Fig. 4 shows one construction in which the sides of the slots in the collar C diverge towards the top. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the collar C is conical, in which case the sides of the slots may be parallel, as shown, or divergent. In a further modification, the collar has straight portions tangential to the bolt, and in another the edges of the slots are bent outwards. Two or more pairs of slots may be provided, one pair being at right-angles to the lugs fitting the nut.
