Abstract
The invention comprises 3-aminoalkyl-4-alkyl coumarin derivatives having the formula <FORM:1067626/C2/1> where R1 and R2 represent hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl and the alkyl radicals may be linked either directly or via a hetero atom to form a ring; R3 is an alkyl radical, R4 is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, R5 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical and A is a straight or branched alkylene residue having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and possibly containing a hydroxyl group. Preferably, A is an ethylene or b -hydroxy-propylene residue. The compounds are prepared by heating together a 3 - haloalkyl - 4 - alkyl - coumarin having the formula <FORM:1067626/C2/2> where Hal represents a halogen atom and an amine having the formula <FORM:1067626/C2/3> in an organic solvent and in the presence of acid-binding agents. Many examples are given.
